excellent. SB 4.5 (no one is a perfect 5) far superior to the nasty Flare Air (which would charge you extra for breathing if they could) Porter has good service, doesn't gouge (free drink and snack in a short flight) and is reasonable with their bag policy (they don't seem to check whether you paid for a carry on. but don't quote me on that. )
Would be nice if there was an actual ‘pilots lounge’, like any other FBO. Instead, flight crews are forced to sit in the lobby amongst passengers, receptionists, line crews and other flight crews with little chance to relax.
The team at Porter is truly top notch! The service we received from every employee was fantastic. We flew in for the air show and the overnight parking and convenience to downtown Toronto is great. We will definitely return. Best in the business!
The location is amazing. We were able to drive a vehicle to the plane. The line man, however, just watched us load the car. Didn't even offer to help. It was strange, because he was friendly. I don't know if the culture in Canada is different. Service mentality doesn't seem to be a big thing here.
Nice set up and interior. No pilot lounge. Also the service is sub par. Their ground crew never seems prepared for incoming planes. They often over or under fuel the planes and seem to be unable to get organized enough to have a plane ready and ramped for a scheduled departure no matter how much time in advance you give them.
I find it incredible that such a well known FBO has such limited reviews. Porter is who I've always gone to at the island, and they've always treated me well. I've never heard negative comments about their service in the industry; everyone knows you fly to the island and park at porter. Look, I get people's gripes with ramp fees. but it's part of the cost of taking up ramp space in downtown. One trip I went that was purely recreational at my own expense, when they realized I'd be back in less than an hour the attendant even waived the fee! (they probably weren't allowed to do that, but just shows they have people who care) Each time I've gone I was martialed into a convenient spot near the door, and they handled repositioning the airplane if needed.
