Disappointing and discriminatory experience I had a very disappointing experience with this salon. I contacted them to book a service they clearly advertise as providing. Instead of being honest, I was told that they “do not perform this service,” which was untrue. It became obvious that the real reason for the refusal was simply because I am a male-presenting customer. Refusing a client based on gender and then lying about service availability is unacceptable and unprofessional. If a business chooses to restrict services by gender, that should be stated clearly and honestly, customers should not be misled. I value transparency, respect, and inclusivity, and unfortunately this salon failed on all three. I would not recommend this place to anyone expecting fair and honest treatment.
Have been going to Angela Beauty Parlor for my beauty needs for years now. Always a good experience! Place is clean and tidy, prices are reasonable. Staff is well experienced, warm and welcoming. Their behavior is what brings me back every time. Unlike other places, they dont try to sell you services/ products that you dont ask for. Place can get busy at times, so if you want services that take more time (hair color, cut, body wax etc), its best to book an appointment in advance. I usually go for my eyebrows and I have never waited for more than 10 minutes. This place is a gem on Gerrard!
Got some hair colour done and after agreeing upon a price, they changed it later saying they had to do a balayage instead of an ombre for what I wanted and the job wasn’t even done well. Why can’t you tell me that early on? Why agree to do something and then switch it up?? Also got my arms waxed and the lady who did was absolutely terrible at both communication and waxing. They also don’t sanitize anything properly prior to use. Only go here if hygiene and customer service is not something you care about. The staff is straight up condescending. I get that’s what you get for the price you pay but this is a whole other level of disrespectful and disappointing. Big mistake going here.
I was in there today for shampoo and a haircut. All I can say the staff there are extremely kind and caring! Especially Bhakti she’s so sweet, I asked her how to spell her name because I mean to keep leaving good reviews and I always forget! The owner Angela is kind too and she cut my hair today and did a great job! They know their stuff and have experience there. I recommend anyone to go there and they are fair on their prices! Halima another girl who works there is really nice and caring too!
I’ve been going to Angela’s Beauty Parlor since I was 15. I’m 25 now. I’ve brought her clients, recommended her to friends, and even defended her when her shop got hate-crimed multiple times. But after what happened today, I finally get it. The service is terrible, the vibe is toxic, and the way I was treated was straight-up discriminatory. I went in to get my brows done – something I’ve done countless times – and needed to use the bathroom. It’s a single-stall bathroom I’ve used plenty of times before without a problem. But today, suddenly, I’m told it’s a “women-only” area. That’s never been mentioned once in ten years. There’s no sign, nothing on her website, nothing. And if it’s really a women-only salon, why are the windows see-through? That makes no sense. When I asked why, instead of giving me a straight answer, she started bringing up her “Muslim beliefs,” saying she couldn’t let me use the bathroom because I’m a man. I’m Muslim too, so it was especially insulting to hear her use religion as a flimsy excuse. She was just making stuff up that isn’t even accurate to Islam. And if that’s really her policy, why have I been allowed to use the bathroom for years? Why have other men been allowed to use it too? Here’s the thing – I’m also South Asian and I understand both Hindi and English. While I was there, she was using Hindi to talk down about other clients, thinking they wouldn’t understand. It’s disgusting to see someone use their own language to insult and discriminate against paying customers. And she’s constantly criticizing young girls about their looks right in front of them. Imagine being a teenager trying to get your brows done and having someone in a position of authority tear down your confidence. It’s gross and unprofessional. The bathroom itself is filthy – more of a storage closet than a proper restroom – and she had the nerve to say she’d “lose clients” if I used it. How? There was literally no one else there. After ten years of bringing her business, this is how she treats me? If you want to be disrespected, lied to, and made to feel like an outsider, go ahead and book an appointment. Otherwise, take your money somewhere that actually respects its clients.
This is the ONLY place I go for my eyebrows, they never mess thdm up. I also recently had my hair coloured here and they did a really good job! The people here are kind and will always try to get through the line ups fast without rushing through anyone.
I went here to get my haircut and facial. They did it very well. Their service is very good. Halima is a very nice lady .she did my facial, thanks Halima and your team.
