I had the absolute worst customer service experience with Nitros Soccer. I first tried to contact them at the beginning of August, leaving several voicemails over the course of two weeks, with no response. When they finally did get back to me after those two long weeks, I immediately followed their instructions as requested. However, after that, I never heard from them again, despite leaving countless voicemails and emails. It wasn't until the end of September, almost two months later, that they surprisingly picked up the phone, only to ask me to attend a tryout on the same day – with no prior notice or follow-up communication. This is not the first time I've been disappointed. My child joined their spring recreational league, and that was also a huge letdown. The coaches were on their phones the entire time, barely interacting with the kids, leaving it to the parents to keep track of the scores. It was incredibly unprofessional and not at all what I expected from a youth soccer league. This lack of professionalism, both in customer service and coaching, is unacceptable. I would not recommend Nitros Soccer based on these experiences, and I’m very disappointed in how both were handled.
Having been with North Toronto Nitros for almost five years now (while also playing for two other strong teams in the five years prior), I have to say North Toronto is a top-notch organization, top-to-bottom. The environment is filled with positivity, from the management, to coaches, players, supporting staff and parents. Practices are productive, engaging and effective and I would like to think I learn something new almost every session. I especially appreciate weekly focus in practices on the upcoming weekend game, with drills designed to improve specific elements of the game deemed most critical against the upcoming opponent. North Toronto SC keeps an excellent balance of hard work, fun and player engagement to foster a positive spirit throughout the organization. The competitive spirit is also nurtured through mini games and other competitions during practices, which help players find another gear. In my opinion, no other organization comes even close to having the support cast Nitros has built, from nutritionists to physiotherapists, guest speakers – the list goes on. My younger brother also joined Nitros three years ago and is loving the experience at least as much as I do. North Toronto Soccer Club is an amazing club, an even better community – simply an organization that is dedicated to bringing out the best in us, helping us reach new heights both as soccer players and as people.
I’m disappointed with the 36% increase in cost for summer recreational soccer. In one year the cost increased by 16% and the amount of sessions decreased by 20%. We used to have 11 sessions and now only 9 are included during summer term. Seems they decreased the sessions so they could implement a new short 4 week fall soccer session. If you are going to do that you need to decrease the cost not increase. That is a substantial increase in one year ($96). Each individual session costs $36.11 (with a discount). Also, Optional Supplementary Training used to be offered on a separate day for 45 minutes. That has now decreased to 30 minutes and is now being offered same day after their soccer class. That is too long of a session for me and when there is a cancellation due to weather you are essentially missing out on two sessions. Whereas in previous years you would have that extra opportunity for at least one soccer practice per week. With all the rain we have had this year my daughter has yet to play once and my son only once (July 24 hopefully first time playing for season). They canceled my son’s soccer saying the city closed the sports field. However, when I checked online the diamond was only closed. I emailed enquiring but never received a response back. No refunds, no make up class. With that price per session, cancellations on top of that, all the changes, and with multiple kids. Just can’t justify it. Extremely disappointed. Three years with league but if it doesn’t change to how it was I’m out.
Definitely do not go there. Coaches are 12 years old and they don't do anything besides just stand there and watch the kids play. One time my kid was kicked in the back by another player while lying on the ground and they practically did nothing
My three children had previously played house league with another soccer club, but I thought I would try North Toronto this summer as something different. My husband and I are both utterly disappointed with this choice. North Toronto soccer is so poorly organized. There are no formal games, rarely a referee, and the coaches are teenagers who lack expertise. My youngest would get water breaks every five minutes, just as she would just be getting into playing “soccer”. Every week I would think, “We shouldn’t have signed up for this; I wish I could withdraw and get our money back!” Not the feeling you want with an activity.
I signed up my kids for North Toronto Soccer's recreational league. There are no formal games and the "coaches" are mainly teenagers lacking the expertise to coach properly or manage the practices. I also signed up one of my kids for a competitive league and have been met with poor communication. They force everyone to download the app Team Snap and give you only two days to mark whether or not your kid is "available" to play on the weekend game. If you don't mark available, then they won't let you play. Yes, that's right, they will literally steal a game from you that you paid for and not let your child play, because you didn't use their app. I would steer clear of North Toronto Soccer.
North Toronto's coaching staff, organization, and overall professionalism is superior to other clubs in Toronto. Trainings focus on improving ball control in addition to tactical awareness from a young age. I have two children enrolled in the rep program and they both love it!
