Found an out of print book here but couldn't ship it to my address due to the postal strike. Dobi was kind enough to hold on to it for me until it started up again. Very satisfied with the service and friendly communication. Thanks again!
This bookstore is a gem in the city! It's run by a passionate and really kind owner, she is incredibly knowledgeable about the art and comic scene. The selection of books is amazing, you'll find artbooks & comics of even niche games and series that are impossible to find in other places, even online. And when you do, the price is always reasonable! There's a lot of high quality art instruction books and imported art books. The ambience of the store is great, it feels like a treasure hunt and made for book lovers. I personally enjoy browsing the stacks of books and the place being wall-to-wall with them. You can peacefully browse the store and always walk away feeling satisfied, especially when you do discover and grab something new or niche. :) Highly recommend a visit!
I'll be honest, I've given this place many, many chances, but I can't stand it. It's messy and disorganized, with boxes piled up in the aisles. It feels like shopping in a hoarder's basement. This is bad enough for the average shopper, but they might as well put a sign up out front that says "The differently abled are not welcome here." In certain areas of the store the aisle is barely 12 inches wide. Not cool in 2025. (Not joking, I'm 99% sure this store violates several regulations of the Ontario Human Rights Code in relation to accessibility for retail establishments.) Every time I've gone in it's the same woman working, and she seems to hate her job.
I've been going to Thunderstuck consistently since Dobi took the space over and it's a gem of a place. They have a great selection and are in a very convenient location. Also, the owner is super-nice! Her knowledge of the scene and her ability to recommend books to people is almost superhuman. The only thing about this store that might be an issue for some folks is that it's pretty narrow? It has an overstock problem so manoeuvring through it might be hard for those who want to browse their wares, but online ordering and front desk pickup are still options.
This place is awesome ! The staff had exactly what I wanted and knew exactly where it was (after I’d called another comic shop who didn’t have what I was looking for) and this place is full to the brim with every single comic and manga you can imagine plus tons of collectibles and anime figures ! There were series in here I haven’t thought about in over a decade that brought back so many memories. I will definitely be back here. You guys rule !
A great comics/manga/memorabilia store. Has an excellent collection of video game/manga/comic artbooks, figures, and naturally comics/manga anthologies. However, the collection stays up to date, so don't expect to find anything out of print here. Owner is nice and approachable, definitely knowledgeable about her products, so going to her for help is always a decent idea. Have bought multiple artbooks from the store, and I don't think that's gonna end anytime soon.
Absolutely amazing selection despite the small size of the store. I'm not entirely sure how books are organized here but it's fun to look around and discover what's available, kind of like a treasure hunt. I'm sure the staff are aware and can help find what you need if you're looking for something specific. Great way to kill some time while we were in Toronto!
