I first went to Canela while it was still being renovated. The owner graciously offered me a latte, and I have been hooked every since... all that to say, this review is long overdue, so here goes: I have frequented Canela regularly over the last year, and I have continued to enjoy their lattes, baked goods and freshly made crepes: - the lattes are velvety, well-balanced, and served at the ideal temperature; - the croissants are fresh and flaky, with the pistachio croissant being the dark horse you never saw coming; and - the crepes always hit the spot, whether you are wanting something sweet or savoury. They are soft, fluffy and melt in your mouth (I recommend the Breakfast All-Day crepe with eggs, cheese, avocado, tomato and chili flakes, and if really hungry, feel free to add bacon). The staff are always friendly and greet you with a smile. They are happy to answer your questions, and make first-timers, as well as regulars, feel welcome. Finally, the owners should be commended for the overall quality, atmosphere and cleanliness of their establishment. They clearly strive to ensure each customer has an excellent experience, and work diligently to train their staff to guarantee a consistent outcome when it comes to the making of their various coffees and crepes. They have welcomed local artists and authors into their café, and have helped promote and build a sense of community in the neighbourhood. To summarize: if you have not yet been to Canela, now is your chance - I assure you, you will not regret it.

Canela is my favorite spot for breakfast in the neighborhood. I've been several times and the crepes are excellent every time and made with care. Every person I have brought here loves it too. I especially LOVE the breakfast crepe (bacon, egg, cheese) - filling and so delicious.

Terrible place, we ordered two flat whites and the lady did not know how to make it. When we brought up the fact that the flat white just tasted like milk. She said that that's how they make it in the store, flat white has no foam, mostly milk and a shot of espresso. I said that's not correct, but she continued to try and defend the terrible drink saying that's a flat white. She took no ownership of the fact that they don't make a regular flat white. Anyways, it was almost $12 for two terrible flat whites. The least she could do was refund for the terrible drink. A flat white should be the same everywhere, I don't know why this random cafe created their own version with mostly milk. Really disappointed because I love a good neighborhood cafe and this is not it.

Consistently excellent, savoury and sweet crepes are delicious. Even their plant-based crepes are excellent. The spicy feta in the savoury crepe is a nice touch, the brown sugar in the lemon crepe is our favorite.

This new coffee shop is a wonderful upgrade for the neighborhood. The staff are friendly and attentive, the warm drinks are tasty, and the crepes truly show an artisan touch. It's a wonderful addition to the Danforth and comes highly recommended.

Best salmon and goat cheese crêpe! And I’m more of a sweets person. Enjoyed our sweet treats as well, it paired well with the espresso and macchiato. Husband and I are coming back for more delicious treats!

Was working in the area for a few days over the summer and decided to stop in for a something to drink - glad I did. The owner is lovely and has really gone out on a limb to bring this business to the area. So, if you’re reading this - consider popping in and supporting this excellent local café. Casual, clean and welcoming atmosphere with lots of room to sit outside. Coffee was excellent and my kids loved the massive chocolate chip cookies I brought home with me. Will return whenever I can!
