A great spot in a residential downtown location - service , food , friendly owner - a pleasurable meal with good selection of wines - all at $60 a bottle

We just had our wedding dinner for a group of 20 at Y NOT ITALIAN! and the whole event was flawless. The food, service and atmosphere were outstanding! Thank you to Peter and his team for making sure our night was special. We are truly grateful.

Truly a neighbour place to dine with intimate energizing ambiance, delicious food (the chef even takes special requests, such as please fry ginger in my shrimps!!) and heartwarming service!

This is the first review I’ve ever written, I’ve never felt the need to before this. My family and I were looking to have a nice dinner at this restaurant, we arrived and were sat at a table in the restaurant, about 5 minutes after that two other parties were sat. We ordered an appetizer, our main dishes, and drinks all at once. The appetizer came and we ate it. After the appetizer we waited 55 minutes, until we got our main course meals, 55… minutes… As someone who works as a server at a restaurant, the service here is absolutely embarrassing. While waiting almost an hour for our food, our server didn’t feel the need to check on us, he didn’t let us know why our food was taking so long, he didn’t apologize, he didn’t ask if we wanted another round of drinks, he didn’t do anything. All the while, the two parties that were sat after us had ordered, finished their entire meals, and had their plates cleared all while we were left waiting. Our server brought the food and again didn’t give us a reason as to why the food took so long, didn’t apologize or offer any sort of amendment. My brother got salmon, it was overcooked and the skin was burnt and they tried covering it up with a bunch of sesame seeds! There was no shot we were going to send anything back as we didn’t feel like waiting another hour for food, my brother tried to finish as much as he could but ended up leaving over half of his meal on the plate. The rest of the food we had was mediocre at best. Again, as a server myself, when food takes too long, I apologize and explain why, I get my guests food discounted or offer them something on the house for the mistake. When I notice people not eating their food, I ask if everything is alright and if we can fix anything for them. I check in on my guests more than once every hour… To the server, you were frankly terrible. To the kitchen, you should take more pride in and be more careful with the food you serve people that are spending their hard earned money. To the owner, I hope for once you maybe reflect on criticism from your guests and think about how you can improve your business instead of leaving one of your embarrassing replies. Safe to say we won’t be dining here again, this “restaurant” is a joke. Do better.

I went here the other week with some friends from out of town and we were a little disappointed by the service. It was quite slow and our server was not very attentive when he was present. I really enjoyed the spaghetti funghi and my boyfriend said the gnocchi was good, too. Unfortunately, my friends were pretty unimpressed with their food, especially with the ceasar salad which was very basic and even I could see it was not worth 17 dollars. The worst part was at the end of the night when they paid, the server was very passive aggressive and called them rude for not leaving a tip. He asked if everybody from Montreal was rude and didn’t tip (they have French accent). When they said they were from France, he reiterated and asked if everybody from France was rude, too. I understand it is Canadian culture to tip but to passively aggressively call out paying customers for not tipping about 8 dollars is not a good look. I guess so long as you tip you’ll have a fine experience here.

We were 4 people. The pene vodka was good. The garlic shrimp were flavourless. The potatoes and veggies tasted like they were boiled with no flavour. The piri piri chicken was good but the chicken was overcooked and not much sauce. The mushroom pasta tasted like it was just olive oil with no flavour. There is one server for inside and out and 14 people eating was too much for one server. It’s not that the service was bad it required more patience when you needed something. I frequented this restaurant often when it was on Avenue and called EVVOO. The food was excellent. It’s very disappointing that the experience here has deteriorated so badly. With the prices charged the food/restaurant experience has to improve or I don’t see this place surviving. The owner and server are very nice but that’s not enough to make me return.

Below average food. RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL STAFF. Bad ambiance. Incapable of building on criticism. Would give zero stars if possible. In response to the owner of your distasteful restaurant- maybe the ones with the low IQ are waiters at a restaurant where they vent out the anger of their failures at young students like us who had to pay for your below average food and customer service . Also , spend more time on hiring a better chef and training yourself and your staff on BASIC MANNERS .

Harmeen… wow, your just as bad as your other three friends… all cowards, and all trying to defame a restaurant… do all Toronto restaurants a favour stay at home and eat… we do not need to put up with individuals that have less of an I.Q then a mouse.
