I came to the eye clinic one day earlier than my appointment by mistake, and even though they were fully booked, Venus kindly talked to the doctor and arranged for me to be seen the same day. She was extremely kind, patient, and professional. I truly appreciate her effort and the way she handled the situation so responsibly. Thank you, Venus, for your kindness and great customer service! You really made my day. ?

I went to the Toronto Eye Clinic at Yonge and Eglinton for an eye exam in the spring. After the exam I was introduced to a sales associate to get assistance with selecting lens and frames. I was going to purchase two pairs of lenes and frames, as TEC had a sale. At the time, I was transitioning from very limited glasses usage to everyday wear, since my prescription had increased. I found the sales associate to be combative and not transparent in regards the exam price and the price of lenses. I felt the focus was more on making a sale and not on assisting me transition to glasses for everyday wear. I canceled my order shortly after purchase due to this sale person and the shady customer service I received. I was very concerned about the customer service I would receive post sale, if I had issues with the lens. I also felt there was a lack of transparency regarding the pricing. For example, I was asked for an 80% deposit, which was unusual. I was offered an upgrade to my existing lens since I was buying two pairs of new glasses, but when I later went to pay, I was told that the upgrade may not be granted, and I wouldn’t find out until days after I paid whether I would get the upgrade. I was charged for two eye exams, even though I only received one prescription. This was later rectified, but it increased my feelings that the pricing was not clear and something shady was occurring. I like to spend my money at places where customers are treated respectfully. I wouldn’t recommend going to this location if you need help picking glasses. If you’re an experienced glasses wearer that can pick your lens and frames without assistance, then maybe you’ll have a different experience at the Toronto Eye Clinic.

Not only do you find out after the fact that a test you never wanted costs $300, the prescription was not correct. I’ve found much better alternatives.

Dr. Vivian Ly was so kind. I didn't feel rushed and she took her time doing a thorough exam for my concern. She was very patient when answering all my questions and even took a picture of what she was looking at through her lens to explain to me what she saw. She's very understanding and made me feel like what I had to say matters.

overbilling on eye exams. You only find out after all exams are done by this clinic that the annual eye exams cost you over $250, without anyone telling you how much before you agreed. Clients plan to visit this place need to pay extra attention visiting this clinic.

Great experience here. I come here for my eye checkups, lens, and contacts. The staff are always very sweet and accomadating. The doctors are pleasant and the store is well designed. Nice selection of frames too. 10/10

Dr Spears is fantastic and very professional. The women at the front desk were a pleasure to deal with. I'm a bit surprised at a couple of the negative reviews and feel compelled to write something. The only thing I can think of is the one time I had a long wait I know Dr Spears had just come back from a week of volunteering his services in a destitute area - the slums of Jamaica or Haiti. He had told me that he was going to be away on my previous visit. I had a follow up appointment and needed to be seen as soon as he got back. I believe there were a few people in the same situation so he graciously stayed late his first day back so that everyone could be seen. While I waited one of the other patients was loudly complaining about the wait and that the "Dr" had stacked up the patients because he was greedy and only cared about money! The front desk politely endured this person's abuse but they were too professional to explain the situation. I usually wouldn't say anything but the situation seemed pretty unfair to the office so I spoke up and explained to the person that, to me, Dr Spears was going way beyond the call of duty. If he is volunteering like this often I wonder if he has this situation when he gets back on his first day or two. When I thought about it later, I'm sure I would have been angry too if I hadn't known what Dr Spears was doing the day before. It's taught me a bit of lesson about giving people the benefit of the doubt. Every other time I've gone too this office I've never had a delay and had terrific, caring service. Dr Spears is one of my favourites!
