We'd been looking forward to Louf and what a terrific disappointment it turned out to be. While we didn't love the food, there were a ton of vegetarian and gluten free options - which we appreciated. Our server however had to be one of the worst we've had. She was lovely but absolutely dismal at her role. She tried to guide us with the menu, and her recommendations could not be farther from reality. We were very disappointed that we went with her recommendation "large plates are very large. It's meant to be eaten in family style. Don't order this for one person". Out came tiny plates. Such a waste of time, money and excitement.
To the lady who served my family last week; you did not respect our orders and she was rude wehn we packed it to go after. just i want to no 1 thing .. why we ware a good customer. there is no need
We had the maftoul & it was absolutely delicious, warming & nourishing for our hardworking crew. Louf is such a beautiful restaurant & it is a gift to Toronto to be able to access and celebrate Palestine cuisine!
Pros: food was really tasty, service was very good. Food came warm and host was very kind. Cons: dishes are way overpriced for what you get. I think the salad that cost 17$ consisted of a single cut tomato and 6 squares of cheese. The whole menu just felt like confusing tapas, you always need to order bread or something else with any dish and it is not explained on the menu. A dish should be a complete dish that can be consumed on its own. Spent more time having the host explain how to order the food then eating. Arrived for a reservation and still had to wait 20min. Would I visit again? No Would I reccomend? No
The food was amazing, service was impeccable, but my favourite part was not getting kicked out right after we finished our meal, they let us take our time and truly experience our meal as a binding and communal act.
My friends and I tried most of their brunch menu and…it was a miss. The price to food ratio (in terms of quality quantity and technique + ingredient use) was just way off. Most things lacked flavour and I couldn’t justify the amount we were spending. I’ve had better brunch elsewhere if you’re looking for a middle eastern spot - Maha’s is a classic for a reason. I’m willing to come back to try their dinner service but sorely disappointed by the brunch.
Big time recommend this place! Food was incredible and the staff were so wonderful. We tried many dishes and each one was perfect - and love that the gratuity is built into prices. Will definitely be back!
