Went a couple of months ago. Was expecting lots of spare parts and computers for me to pick at, very disappointed. Only products they had were refurbished systems (which were extremely overpriced,) random off-brand electronics, and overpriced, used hard drives. Also some mechanical keyboards that I thought were nice, turns out they've been having horrible build quality issues. Staff were nice though. I expected a lot more from this store considering the fact that its in such a big city right next to a university campus, total let down.
If you're donating used computers, show up during the posted times and give them a call when you arrive. I was met outside promptly by someone who was friendly and polite and prepared to take away my 2 desktop computers. Very easy and feels good to find use for unneeded but functional tech.
They collect old used computers and laptops. They are recycled or refurbished to sell those who wishes to buy used computers for less price. They also sell the recycled spare parts. This venture protects the environment from electronic waste while earning an income and serving the poor who are ready to use a used product.
A little weird to get in, you have to call in from the entrance to the building, but once inside it's a goldmine of cheap, good quality second hand and refurbished electronics. The staff really know their stuff as they're the ones repairing and building the gear. They're and as you could ask for and have more than just gear, they offer internet services and can even teach you about your product. Absolutely could not recommend this place enough, especially if you need stuff like accessories, or storage devices like USB sticks, they're crazy cheap compared to new.
5 stars for very cheap prices. Located inside apartment bldg of 180 Sudbury. You need to buzz to get in. Paid parking on streets. PC accessories, cable, laptops, monitor and small electronics for real cheap. You name it. Of course, cosmetics is a bummer. Items are old and used.
Friendly staff and solid deals on used computer hardware / tech. Also the only store in the city that was willing to help me find the single screw I needed and gave it to me for no charge? I like FreeGeek a lot!
Been dealing with these wonderful folks for over 2 years, they're the only computer shop I use. From their mission statement, to the above and beyond help they've given me thru the years I wholeheartedly and without reservation recommend FreeGeek to anyone. Now that those Condos between Queen and Sudbury are complete, it's a lot easier to find their door :):)
