I’ve worked with Val for just over a month now. I figured out how to hit high notes on my own, but something always felt off. The issue was that I had tensions, which led to a strained and forced sound. Val was able to immediately point out the issues I was facing and helped me get through them quickly. Val’s approach was straight forward and understandable. Within a few sessions I was able to hit all my notes without strain or tension. Not to mention, the technique has allowed me to expand my full voice range by 4 semitones. Coming in, I was already happy with my range. The idea that I was able to hit even higher notes was mind blowing. Val’s extensive knowledge and experience, combined with her attention to detail are skills that can better your vocals in an efficient manner. I have been going to see Val for a few months now and have noticed a great improvement in my singing technique. She is consistently helping to improve my sound by introducing new techniques and tips that can be used and practiced. She is also very flexible with scheduling and will work with you to accommodate your needs.
I finally took the plunge and signed up for private classes with Valérie. I am a middle-aged amateur musician and I jam with friends a few times a month and I just wanted some tips to help me take turns at the mic on jam nights. What a difference only 2 lessons can make (let's just say my friends did notice the difference)! Not only do I feel much more comfortable with my voice, but I now want to continue working with Valérie to further develop my capabilities — there's something there that I never knew I had. Valérie is a great teacher and coach, she's very knowledgeable and can put one at ease very quickly, which for me was key in order to make the most of the lessons. It only took me one lesson to notice the improvements in my singing on stage! Valerie is an amazing teacher and I recommend her to every singer that is looking to improve their singing skills!!!
So far I have had several lessons with Valerie via Skype. Before I started lessons with Valerie, tried 5 vocal teachers for up to 6 lessons each, some with a classical background and one-a rock singer from an 80s hair band! I have found Valerie to be very knowledgeable and skilled when it comes to teaching correct techniques as well as a method and confidence in helping students to work towards increasing their vocal range-something my previous teachers were unable to really help me with. Valerie's association with rock vocal strength coach Jaime Vendura and having seen them both on the online magazine Guitar Interactive Magazine gave me the confidence to consider lessons with her as a teacher /singer. Also, a classical background in Bel Canto along with her additional training with Jaime to better understand how to apply classical singing techniques with vocal strength training from Jaime's Raise Your Voice course as well as his vocal health tips. I found Valerie online through a Craigslist posting, and after a trial lesson decided to book a few lessons. Every lesson I learn invaluable tools that help me sing better. We do half the lesson breathing exercises and half working on songs. Valerie points out stuff I would miss on my own. She is very patient and thorough with her explanations of various singing and musical theories. Well recommended!
