It's always a great experience with these folks. I've rented powerboats numerous times and have never had any technical issues with the boats or hassles with booking. Staff are super friendly, too.
I have been sailing for 10+ years, and have been taking sailing related courses at THNC for a few years now. The head instructor / sailing guru Clive is great, anybody who has a chance to get taught by him should consider themselves lucky. Recently I ran into some booking issues, however, when all was said and done Emma was fantastic and was able to accommodate a unique situation and was flexible in her approach. I highly recommend anybody who is interested in sailing to visit THNC.
FYI this review is about the sailing part not the rentals, if you're weird like that and need an engine find another review. As stated this is about the sailing school/summer camp. If you didn't know sailing levels in Canada run by the CANsail system (if you dont know what that is Google it). The club provides CANsail 1-4, cansail 1 & 2 plus the i can sail (little kids) are co-run by harborfront camps, this mean that you have bussing and an option for a mean plan. Due to safety concerns (bc harborfront is scared of getting sued it's actually fine) 3 and 4 are run solely by THNC this mean that there is not bussing so you must find your own means of travel, lucky for you a streetcar passes right infront of the building. If perchance your to wimpy to go on the TTC alone (I dont blame you sometimes) just drive or for those interested in a workout the MGT (bike path) passes infront to. Since the 3/4 program does not have a meal plan, you are given the freedom to order food (no Uber eats please). You will be gifted with the taste of tims, pizza, more pizza and Harvey's (tims is the #1 place). The coaching staff is pretty good and probably won't capsize you (jokes, dont sue). The boats on the other hand are like that one friend, it functions and that about it. The 420's although my personal favorite proudly display war scratches from past years. FEVAS and PICO are plastic tub so not really my thing. I feel like a should add this, Oriole Toronto Island ferry is someone you should avoid at all cost. Actually just avoid anything bigger than you, should be obvious. Overall: great staff, food exist, boats work. They gave me my levels so 4.5 stars
I rented a pontoon with my family. The staff was friendly and helpful. The boat had a problem with the engine. I could not get the boat to go above 3knots. The motor would shake and jerk. It was not a smooth ride and kind of disappointing for the amount of money we spent. I reported the problem to the office after our ride.
Filled out a boater Résumé, called ahead to verify, drove from Hamilton, but once there, they wouldn’t let me rent the boat on my own. Wasted a full days time, fuel, and parking.
Amazing staff, going out in the harbour and into the islands really feels like you've left the city behind☺️ I would recommend to EVERYONE if they want a fun time seeing toronto skyline and exploring the islands this summer!
Cheapest place to rent a boat in downtown Toronto. They just need your G drivers licence and you can drive by your own. Awesome customer service and great experience ?
