I went into sweet thrills for an impromptu look around with my partner today, and while we didn’t buy much, only leaving with a single helium balloon, the cashier (Parry) behind the counter was so sweet and fun to chat with. She answered all questions and even helped me adhere my balloon to my umbrella! She even went as far as to take a photo of me with my partner outside for memories sake. I have always liked this spot and I love it even more now. Will definitely be back :)
I’ve been in there before the management changed (a few years ago), they were always kind and usually asked if I wanted to get anything specific brought in!! Yet since it’s been switched there’s been a cashier during the weekday who is extremely rude to my daughter and her friends, on more than once occasion. I was also told there was a couple in front of my child who wanted a balloon filled who overheard how rude she was to the kids and said ‘we won’t be back’ due to this ageist attitude. Not filled with a lot of confidence about the new management to have someone like that on their staff.
I had Sweet Thrills do two balloon arches for a wedding shower we threw at a local restaurant. They did a fantastic job and really understood our vision for the colours/decor with very little direction. Got lots of compliments on how the arch looked (photos do not do it justice!). They were kind enough to deliver it which was really appreciated in the chaos of party planning. Excellent value for what we received. The store itself is lovely and has a great selection of party supplies (in addition to some very unique candies and toys). Family run by lovely people. Definitely worth a visit for all things party!
I don't see why this place is rated so high. It's dark and dusty inside. The selection is not good. The girl at the counter was very nice but clearly high. It just felt sad inside. If this place used to be good it certainly is not any more.
If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. I’ve had the worst experience trying to do a refund at this store. First I bought some candy from them off of the “Shop” app and the store gladly took my money, but we’re going to let me know or cancel my order to tell me that the candy I wanted is out of stock. So I called the store and the girl gave me a refund, not letting me know it’s a partial refund… to my surprise when I looked at the receipt they refunded the tracking not the actual product they sold me. I called again and asked why it’s a partial refund, same girl told me it’s because I bought it from the shop app and they can’t give me a full refund. That’s a load because I did in fact contact Shop customer service and they told me they don’t even handle the money, that the sellers and stores on the app handle the money. Crazy right? I called again and just asked for the manager and of course the manager is not there, so I emailed her. Fingers crossed I actually get a response and the rest of my money. All of this to say DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS STORE!!! I will never be purchasing a single item or candy from this place again. They don’t have correct counts of their inventory and won’t give you a full refund. Worst experience from a store ever.
So it's the end of August and my daughter's birthday is approaching. She loves the 5th Avenue chocolate bar and I can't find them anywhere in Toronto. By the time I realize this, an online order would arrive too late. I call Sweet Thrills and speak with owner Marianna. She takes on my quest as a mission. She contacts her suppliers and she stays in touch with me over the next couple of days. Marianna calls me on the Saturday afternoon telling me she has found 5th Avenue bars! Marianna gets them to her store so I can pick them up on the Sunday, the before my daughter's birthday. I cross the city to Roncesvalles from Broadview/Gerrard to buy them. Mariana's old-fashioned customer service gave my daughter a sweet thrill on her birthday. It was a terrific surprise for her. Thank you again Marianna...your determination to help a customer is a rare treat indeed!
