DEEPLY UPSETTING experience at the dufferin mall Sephora. What should have been a simple visit to exchange and colour match a few concealers turned into the worst customer service encounter I have ever had, marked by hostility, rudeness, and treatment that felt discriminatory. After placing an online order, I visited the dufferin store location to get colour matched by an associate, who was professional and helpful. The cashier who processed my returns and exchanges was also coureous but seemed a bit confused in how to do exchanges so he asked his colleague for help which is fine. Once I received my receipt, I stepped aside to review it because the 20% discount made the pricing and refund details confusing. A short moment later, an employee named Amanda (Caucasian, brown reddish hair, large round eyes) approached me. I explained that I simply needed clarification on the refund amount since the receipt was hard to understand. Her response was immediately hostile, rude, and dismissive. She raised her voice, rolled her eyes and told me, “well read the receipt. Everything is on the receipt. You’ve been in the store over an hour. Just read the receipt.” I was shocked by her tone and caught off guard..explained that I was confused in reading the receipt since there was the regular price, discounted price and hard to understand and would appreciate help — especially since she approached me offering assistance. Instead of helping, Amanda the Sephora employee escalated her behaviour. She became increasingly aggressive, raised her voice again, rolled her eyes, and was openly disrespectful. When I requested to speak to a manager to Amanda and mentioned to her I didn’t appreciate the way she spoke to me and there was no reason for her to be so rude. Amanda then said “right now this is all you get, is me. It’s upto you take it or leave it“. and refused to answer when asked directly if she was the manager. She continued making loud comments about how long I had been in the store, drawing attention from other customers and even security. At one point, she falsely accused me of “harassing her employees,” which was completely untrue and deeply distressing. Her conduct felt targeted, hostile, and discriminatory, especially considering that every other employee I interacted with was polite, respectful, and professional. I felt extremely uncomfortable so I was walking out and mentioned to Amanda there was no reason for her to be so rude since all I was was for clarification. She then said “I have nothing else to say to you, you can go now have a good day.” I felt so humiliated and in shock. As I was walking out of the store I also heard Amanda (the employee) speaking about me to her colleagues, again commenting on how I’ve been in the store for over an hour, adding to my discomfort and embarrassment. I then turned around and mentioned there is no policy in how long I can be inside the store. I wasn’t causing any problems to the store or any employees. I simply just wanted to figure out my concealer shade, do an exchange and go home. She gave me a smirk and rolled her eyes, was very disrespectfully said “you can go now, good bye” I spend a few thousands of dollars a year at Sephora, and for sephora employee to treat their customers in such a disrespectful manner is unacceptable. This incident left me shaken, humiliated, and extremely disappointed. I expect far better from Sephora, and I hope this complaint is taken seriously. No customer should ever be treated with such disrespect, hostility, or dismissiveness — especially when simply seeking clarification on a receipt.
I visited the store a few weeks ago because I was looking for a new concealer and needed help finding my perfect match. Even though the store was almost empty, no one approached me to offer assistance. I walked around looking for help, but several employees seemed more focused on their phones and were hiding between the aisles. When I went to the cashier, the situation was the same. Honestly, I didn’t end up asking for help because I didn’t want to interrupt their phone time, so I just left the store without buying anything. The only positive part of my visit was the employee at the door (a tall gentleman, a little older than the rest) who was very nice and welcoming.
Went to sephora dufferin last june 20. Y'all train your cashier girl because my mom was just asking for something, and i heard her having rude tone towards my mom, when she's asking nicely. I work in customer service too, customers are a pain but we still need to accomodate them. Bad service.
the worst Sephora i have ever been to. employees follow your every move but offer no help at all. i would like to be able to shop without feeling like im doing something wrong. made me put my items down and walk right out that store.
