Amazing little shop. Beware, if you like one thing, you will want everything! Featuring local work and some specially curated apparel (I got a killer leopard print romper recently and some vintage levis) I cant even begin to list the magical treasures in this shop, but the customer service is also above and beyond! Worth a peek!
Hi! First off, I want to clarify that this feedback isn’t meant to bash this small shop. The Beau and Bauble is a quaint, interesting place with a friendly atmosphere, and it’s clearly a staple in the Junction area. I even considered applying to stock my own items in the store. That said, I’m sharing this experience not to speak poorly of them but to inform others, particularly anyone with metal allergies like myself, and those who might make a purchase on emotional impulse and based on assurances about allergen sensitivity. This was a learning experience for me. To set the context, I don’t typically buy real gold jewelry due to budget constraints, and I only wear jewelry for a few hours at a time, so I generally manage with mild irritation from less expensive metals. However, I had been searching for a necklace to match a very sentimental promise ring from my husband. I wanted something I could wear often, so I needed a chain that wouldn’t aggravate my skin. While visiting the Junction, I stopped into The Beau and Bauble with a friend, and we were instantly charmed by the selection. I let the salesperson know I needed something hypoallergenic and mentioned my allergy. She recommended a necklace, explaining that while it wasn’t fully gold, it used real gold elements, which, in her view, should work well for someone with metal sensitivities. I took her word and bought it on November 7th. A few days later, I wore the necklace and, within hours, started itching. My roommate even noticed. The necklace wasn’t compatible with my allergy, so I decided to return it. On November 13th, I went back to the store, explained the situation, and asked to return it. Unfortunately, the salesperson said she couldn’t take it back because I had already worn it. This response surprised me, as I had explained my allergy beforehand. To find out if I’d react, I needed to wear it, so it was disheartening to hear the return wasn’t allowed. So either she sold it with no intention of return should my allergy act up, she forgot to tell me the return policy because she did not put together I need to wear it to see if I am allergic, maybe she was certain I would not be allergic or she was banking on me not returning it regardless which I almost did honestly... I did not debate with her long because it was clear she had no intention of returning (did not offer to check with management, maybe she did not believe me) and I don't have the energy to go angry Black woman mode and ask her to call the manager. In hindsight, I recognize it was my responsibility to be cautious. My purpose here isn’t to seek a refund anymore as I will just cut my losses but to share this experience because as a client I don't feel this was service. This is for anyone else with similar sensitivities. If you’re prone to metal allergies, be aware that you may not be able to return jewelry, even if it reacts. I’d also suggest that the store make it clear, verbally or visibly, that jewelry is final sale to avoid any confusion. Overall, this shop is still worth a visit if you enjoy unique finds. Just be mindful if you have sensitivities or need to rely on product assurances, and ask about return policies upfront. (please note the owner replied and though i won't do a back and forth she was not there that day. it was me the representative and a friend that know exactly what was and was not said thank you. if we tit for tat your, store owner suffering, does not trump my personal suffering due to this purchase. you do not know me and what i had to do for this purchase. to tell me to not do the only thing i have in my power to do which is review how this all made me feel is a tough thing to ask me. i did not tell people not to shop with you but i told them MY STORY and i have a right to it. do not shame me for using my voice and expressing disappointment. just as you don't owe me a refund i do not owe you my silence)
I bought a candle from here a couple years ago..I thought I found it again...rain check by anecdote. It's not the right candle.. What I don't get is why a candle is $50 when it has zero smell :s it literally had more smell before i lit it now it's gone. I could have gotten the same thing at the dollar store. What a rip.
this place has been a staple of my neighbourhood for years, i used to love it. recently i went in and asked to try on a gold ring, the woman behind the counter proceeded to tell me that the ring was ‘out of my price range' after insisting she pull it out for me to try it on, she glared at me the whole time, making me feel uncomfortable and demeaned. her rudeness was shocking, i’ve never been treated so poorly as a customer. im incredibly upset and felt shamed and targeted. her rude and curt interaction with me has ruined my experiences there and i will definitely not be returning after almost a decade of supporting this business. i can no longer recommend anyone to shop here. :(
I visited Beau Men's excited to shop local and purchase clothing for my son. The owner of the store was incredibly rude from the moment I walked in. She was impatient, dismissive, and curt when I asked for sizes and help. Overall, It was an awkward and uncomfortable experience.
I love having this shop in the area as I am always running around for a last minute gift and it never disappoints! This store has such a wide variety of items including clothing, accessories, stationary, cards, candles, water bottles etc. It has the CUTEST selection of items at a reasonable price and I can never come in without buying something for myself too. The service is very welcoming and friendly and they are happy to help with any recommendations. Highly recommend this spot-it is a local favourite of mine!
