I always receive excellent customer service from the moment I enter the store to the moment I leave. All of the employees are very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. The store is always clean, well-organized and just immaculate! Thank you to Janet, Kat, Melinda, Lindsay, Bronwyn, Laura, and Sarah for always pointing me in the right direction and giving me great advice when I need to buy a specific gift for a friend or relative. I'm also happy to see that Makers sells Squish candies because I used to only be able to buy them at the Bay, and when the Bay went out of business, I had a hard time finding them. I almost gave up on them and one day, I went to Makers and I found Squish candies, in all their gummi glory. I swear, at that moment, I thought I saw a heavenly glow shinning above the bag of candies. I went quiet because I thought that my eyes were playing tricks on me and If I made a sound, the candies would get scared and disappear. Kat came up to me and asked if I was alright, Janet offered me a glass of water, and I turned to them and simply said, "Okay, nobody breathe!" We all started laughing and by the time we were done, we forgot why we started laughing to begin with. Thank you to the Makers team for always making my shopping experience a happy and memorable adventure!
I cannot speak to the products or services inside, but the customer service displayed by a representative outside this business was extremely disappointing and confrontational. While filming in a public space, a Toronto Blogger was repeatedly and aggressively approached by a staff member who insisted they were "filming a private business" and making customers uncomfortable, despite being in a public area where there is no expectation of privacy ([02:05]). The representative's passive-aggressive approach and refusal to accept the legal right to film in public areas created an unwelcoming atmosphere. When mentioned they had originally intended to promote their store to my audience, the staff member immediately dismissed and challenged my intentions ([05:24]). A business that sends staff out to confront and harass people in a public space, rather than simply welcoming them or engaging politely, demonstrates a severe lack of professionalism and poor judgment. If this is how staff treats the general public, I would be hesitant to trust their customer service inside the store. Management should address this approach immediately.
It was my second time visiting the Queen East store and had an incredible shopping experience. The selection has something for everyone, and is very reasonably priced. You could easily spend hours in this store. The staff are amazing!! Unlike similar small business vendors, I got the impression the staff knew and loved the products and had no problem providing recommendations. At the time, they were experiencing minor tech issues out of their control. they handled the whole situation with grace, and it was a great opportunity for me to keep shopping around. Once they were back online, I accidentally left behind a few pieces I was very excited to buy. The staff member Janet went ***ABOVE AND BEYOND*** and reached out to me via email that she got from my receipt to let me know she would be keeping them on hold for me to come back and pick them up if i’d like. The following day I went back, and Janet immediately knew who I was and I took the opportunity to shop around even more and add some more items to my basket. Janet provided a great customer service experience. Because of her, I will be driving from Waterloo to toronto to go back to Maker’s to do all my Christmas shopping. Thank you Janet for your great energy and customer service!
Full of unique, handcrafted items from local artists and small businesses. Every corner has something different — from candles and jewelry to baby gifts and home décor. It’s the perfect place to find thoughtful, one-of-a-kind presents. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming.
So this is not a review of the wonderful small businesses that sell here. They are great and there are so many great items. I will support them directly. It has to be said this location is not accessible and is extremely overcrowded. The layout is just awful and very uncomfortable for a shopper. I will also be honest the staff are not very polite and have quite the attitude. It's a real shame because as I understand it these small businesses pay rent to this brand. I do not think they would appreciate knowing the staff are not very friendly and they seem not to know a thing about any of the products or small businesses. Really so off-putting. It makes them look bad and it's not supportive to their business and success.
Speaking as a vendor, the staff at The Beaches store have been very helpful and encouraging. I know I don't have to worry about anything because Jamie and the staff are looking out for my interests and keeping my display fresh and up to date.
Love this place! Everything is so cute, my sticker obsession is fueled here. Also an amazing place to find gifts for family and loved ones — thank you to Jamie who was super kind and helpful in store. I will definitely be back!
