This gym is better suited as a residential-only facility, not a public gym. Bringing a friend is not a welcoming experience—after a single free trial, guests are pressured by the owner to sign up for a membership immediately. In one instance, the owner persistently pushed my friend to join on the spot, which came across as aggressive and left a bitter impression. As a result, newcomers are unlikely to return. The pricing is also unreasonable given the limited number of machines and amenities offered. For better value and less hassle, Planet Fitness across the street is a far better option. The hours of operation are confusing and impractical for a gym: weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. When classes are running, the space becomes extremely crowded, making it difficult to use the equipment. Given the size of the gym and the number of residents in the condo, this facility should remain residential-only rather than operating as a public gym.
I have memberships in the most expensive/high end gyms in downtown Toronto, but Higher Ground compares to them all for a fraction of the price. I rarely have to wait for equipment to be available, the gym is clean and well-maintained, and the staff are all amazing!
I used to really like this gym, but the way they handled my cancellation was incredibly disappointing. When I told a staff member at the front desk that I’d be moving away for six months, she advised me to freeze my account and then cancel if needed. I followed her instructions and sent my cancellation email accordingly. No one responded to my email. I called multiple times — once they said they couldn’t load my profile to process the cancellation, another time they said the person responsible was on vacation. When I finally got through to Steve, he assured me he’d help cancel the membership and stop the pending payment. A few days later, someone else contacted me to say that what Steve told me wasn’t correct. They claimed my membership was month-to-month and that I should have notified them before September 1 to avoid the October charge. I had reached out during the first week of September. My membership originally started mid-month a year ago, and I had already moved away. I hadn’t used the gym for four months, and despite that, they still found a way to charge me an extra $70 — which honestly just feels petty. What frustrates me most isn’t even the policy itself, but the fact that I was given wrong information by multiple staff members, and I’m the one who ended up paying for their mistakes. If I had been properly informed, I would have canceled earlier. Instead, they hid behind the fine print and ignored their own staff’s errors. This kind of misinformation and lack of accountability is unacceptable. Policies should be clear, consistent, and applied fairly — not used to squeeze extra payments out of loyal members. Very disappointing experience.
The cleanest gym that I've trained my clients in and that says a lot with 13 years in the game. Great blend of community energy mixed with the ability to have an effective & focused workout session due to the space and variety of equipment and tools. Again, great maintenance.
Huge space, so much equipment, and I love the windows in the facility. My favourite is the workspaces that they have that you're allowed to use if you have a membership and stop by for even a quick workout! Plus there's a cafe with really good coffee that is cheaper than most cafés lol
The staff is great. The machines are awesome. Considering its location I would love if they opened a little earlier during the week for the 5am gym goers!
I had a challenging issue related to recovery from a wrist break and subsequent surgery. I am so glad and grateful to have been pointed in the direction of the physiotherapy division at Higher Ground Health Club. My treatment was top notch. The club is beautiful and the integration of Sports Medicine, Physio, Chiro, and Personal Training with state of the art equipment and space is fantastic. Highly recommend!
