I’ve been a member of Humber Athletics for years, but the recent implementation of their new swipe system has been a huge disappointment. While the system is supposedly more secure, the reality is that it seems designed more for their internal monitoring than for the benefit of the members. The vague responses they’ve given regarding data security don’t exactly inspire confidence—especially when you realize that, despite all the “security” measures, they're still working with a third-party vendor based in the US who was the only proponent to submit and awarded the contract, and may not be fully transparent about data protection practices. What’s worse is the constant surveillance now in place. They claim not to track our movements in the gym, but the fact that they can see who is in the gym at all times feels invasive, even if they’re not tracking exactly where we are. I’m not sure why this level of monitoring is necessary for something as simple as checking in at the gym. If they are going to take my data through this swipe system, there should at least lower membership prices or extend facility hours. As a result of this new system, the gym has also become less user-friendly. It's hard to tell whether the swipe system is actually improving anything, or if it's just a way to justify tracking personal data under the guise of “safety” and “operations efficiency.” It’s frustrating to see them focus more on data collection than on improving the member experience. Additionally, it’s concerning that they retain our data for 5 years after membership ends, and the fact that they don’t allow for third-party audits of their privacy practices leaves me uneasy. I really hope they reconsider the impact this system is having on members who just want to work out without feeling like they’re under constant surveillance.
The best time to enjoy this gym is on Sunday afternoons. My favourite room is the cardio room. The curved treadmill, elliptical, and rowing machines are always available, and it's also a good time to catch up on live sports and local news at the same time. It's always nice to squeeze in a workout to stay motivated just before the finals!
Online schedule for the ball court doesn’t match actual availability when you get there. Staff close the courts early despite the court showing availability on the website. Please either update the website’s schedule or speak with your front desk staff. This has happened numerous times now.. staff have straight up lied about it being closed early where I had to question them just to be able to play. They don’t want to supervise students playing after 7pm? We pay for access to these facilities and in fairness, we refer to the schedule you have online to avoid these issues.. Fix this please
One of the worst gym. Very small. Very busy. Dumbbells unorganized and all over the place. Doesn't have everything you need. If you have no patience, don't even think about coming here since you have to wait in a queue.
never cleaned and only good in the morning when it’s not busy. The gym always smells and there’s always a line For equipment. Desperately needs a deep cleaning. Staff is super cool and always around for help!
Great fitness studio. Smell a bit like teen spirit or body odour -- take your pick. But when it's not crazy cramped with daytime students, it's really quite a great space with a ton of fitness machine variety.
Some of the people work out there at douchebags decent place okay workout equipment not much but there's some real losers to go there work out I'll be moving to another location
