Beware when you turn your back at this place.. When I arrived for my appointment, Chanel herself was at the desk and kept saying I had asked for her by name, but she couldn’t see me because she was running late. I told her it was fine, I’d never seen her before and was actually hoping to see Michelle and reception must of misunderstood I never asked for her, but for the lady who had done my hair previously. But, I said I was okay seeing Abby instead. I stepped away for a bit and as I walked back to the room I overheard Chanel say I “couldn’t afford her anyway.” That was wild to hear and confusing “ especially since I was being flexible and accommodating. I quickly understand that some how her weak ego got bruised once she realized she wasn’t that big of a deal to me. Abby was great kind, professional, and apologized for what I had to experience. she also did a really nice job on my hair. Unfortunately, the owner’s comment changed the whole experience. I wouldn’t waste a penny on Chanel anyways after seeing how petty and unprofessional she is. And that’s the owner?
I don’t usually write reviews but I feel it important to share my experience so others don’t get caught out. I visited the salon yesterday for the first time to have my balayage refreshed with Chanel. Initially, everything looked great after the bleach was rinsed and my hair was dried. However, I noticed several ginger-toned streaks in my parting. These sections had not lifted to the same level as the rest of my hair which was a lovely white blonde. This was because the bleach was removed too early—this area was the last to be processed. I brought this to Chanel’s attention and asked if it could be corrected, which she proceeded to do. She added a few highlights to correct the warm tones. When this was done, the bleach was sprayed off with water, rather than washing my hair again (?) When it came time to pay, I was surprised to be informed that I was being charged for the extra bleach used (please bare in mind I already had been in for a consultation and this extra bleach price was not included in the quote I was given). I was also being charged $60 per correction highlight for the few warm toned streaks. When I questioned the charge for the corrective highlight’s, Chanel responded in a confrontational manner “it was not my fault your hair lifted that colour.” I found this extremely disappointing and unprofessional. The uneven lift was the result of how the bleach was applied and timed, which is 100% within the stylist’s control. Despite this, Chanel maintained that it was not her responsibility or fault. I found this response dismissive, and charging me for a correction necessitated by her own error felt quite unfair and, frankly, a bit sneaky. To put it simply: if you had ordered a meal at a restaurant, received the wrong dish, informed the server, and they brought the correct one, you would not be expected to pay for both. The same principle should apply here. The response from Chanel negatively impacted my experience, and based on this, I would not recommend this salon to other blondes, especially considering similar concerns mentioned in other reviews. It is a shame because I had high hopes going in to Studio 67 and left feeling very disappointed with the customer service. On a positive note, Michelle was absolutely lovely and did an excellent job at styling my hair. Thank you to her for the warm and professional service.
I can't recommend Studio 67 enough!! I have curly hair, which a lot of stylists struggle to work with. Thankfully, Chanel is a curly hair genius and I leave happy every single time. I love how she does both my colour, and haircuts. Not to mention that the vibe of the studio is chill and fun. I haven't gone anywhere else in years and don't plan to!
I’ve been going to Studio 67 for almost four years now — even during the stretches when I wasn’t living in the GTA — and that should tell you everything. My best friend recommended Chanel to me, and I’ve never looked back. She is truly one of a kind. Chanel just gets it. She takes the time to understand your hair, your lifestyle, what you’re trying to achieve (even when you don’t have the language for it). She always delivers a cut and colour that grows out beautifully, looks effortless, and makes me feel like the best version of myself. She’s attentive, detail-oriented, and her eye for shape and movement is unreal.
My hair is really thick, and I used to have to plan on hair appointments taking at least 4 - 4.5 hours, but Chanel is so much faster at colouring my hair than any other stylist! It doesn't take all day, though never feels rushed. The atmosphere is fun and laid back, and you don't feel like just another number in an overly crowded salon. It took me many, many years to find someone who could cut and colour my curly hair so it looks good both curly or if I style it straight, but I've been seeing Chanel for over 10 years now and she always makes my hair look incredible!
I live right next door so was really hoping to like this salon but I had made an appointment and my hair stylist was over 30 mins late. She had clearly taken someone just before knowing she would be extremely late. No apology offered or discount, was really unprofessional. I would not go back Update response: yes, I had a good experience the first time I went but did not go back after that experience
2025 UPDATE: Just had my haircut with Rhianna and she did a fantastic job! She was incredibly kind, attentive, and really listened to what I wanted. This was my third time at the studio, and I can honestly say it’s the best haircut I’ve had so far. I left feeling great and will definitely be coming back to Rhianna next time. Highly recommend! 2022: The staff was very nice and welcoming and the place is very modern, clean and professional. Miranda who did my hair was super sweet and did a phenomenal job. I don't think i have ever had such a perfect haircut. Highly recommend and thank you so much❤️
