You really should rename the store “Salvation Army Boutique” instead of “Thrift,” considering your high prices. Also, the layout is extremely inconvenient. It feels like the store is designed only for tall people, as if you’re punishing anyone who is shorter. Are we supposed to climb a ladder and risk our safety just to reach a blazer or sleepwear? Even jumping wouldn’t help. Before, items were reachable now they’re not. The same goes for the shoes, which are placed way too high, and men’s shoes have practically disappeared altogether. On top of that, the staff’s attitude is unacceptable. The employee with the glasses was arguing with a customer, refusing to let him use a coupon, telling him “I already gave you a discount,” and even saying he “looked like he was from Bangladesh.” It was incredibly embarrassing and completely inappropriate. You really need to reevaluate what’s going on in this store.
I want to share my wonderful experience with Ms. Sharifan “Assistant” for Thrift Store, Thorncliffe branch. Sharifan is truly an amazing lady—incredibly helpful, kind, and always going above and beyond for customers. Her dedication and problem-solving truly impressed me. As a regular customer, I have seen her consistently show professionalism, patience, and genuine care for everyone who walks through the door. She is cooperative, respectful, and extremely professional—a wonderful representative of the store. Thank you, Sharifan, for your outstanding service. Thorncliffe is lucky to have you!
I’m writing this review reluctantly, as I’ve been a longtime supporter of The Salvation Army and this store in particular. I’ve donated hundreds of items and spent thousands of dollars with the organization over the years. I recently spent $650 at this location, and the cashier kindly encouraged me to check out the 50%-off Featured Finds, which included shoes. As an impulse purchase, I bought a pair of “Valentino” boots and “Burberry” shoes, originally marked at $400 and $130. Once home, I authenticated them online and realized both were counterfeit based on multiple clear indicators. I returned the next day to request a refund or store credit, but the store manager said she did not have authorization to offer either. If true, this is a deeply concerning policy—especially in cases of counterfeit goods. I also noticed that many Featured Finds were priced over $100 despite not being authenticated or eligible for return. BUYER BEWARE: when counterfeit items are priced this high, the financial risk to shoppers becomes significant. For a charitable organization, this raises ethical concerns and risks undermining trust within the community. To be clear, the employees at this store are lovely and helpful; my concern is with policy and pricing practices, not the staff. If the company wishes to remedy my experience, I welcome them to contact me directly. I sincerely hope they will review their pricing and return policies to better serve—and protect—the community.
I used to shop here 1-2 x a week, i live close by and theres nothing more than i love than thrifting to help the environment and find treasures. Lately tho, new management it seems, its been terrible. the pricing is astronomical and completely unrealistic. i understand charity and i understand theyre trying to run a business but for receiving items as a donation, they are truly making it unmanageable with prices like the ones they are pricing at. for people who need stores like salvation army, its gutting to see the greed these managers are listing these free items for. ive barely ever left without spending $80-$150 each time and the last couple times ive walked out empty handed. i refuse to support this store anymore and its sad. i liked alot of the staff (they knew me by my first name) and i liked supporting second hand - but who ever is managing this store and pricing lately has just lost a life long customer, neighbour and lover of thrifting.
I used to love shopping at this Salvation Army location, but ever since the management changed about a month ago, things have gone downhill. Prices are completely unreasonable, brand-new items at Winners cost less than the stained or ripped pieces being sold here. The racks are overstocked with things nobody is buying because of these ridiculous prices. It’s disappointing to see a store that’s supposed to help the community become so out of touch. They really need to hire a better general manager for this location, the one who actually understands what a thrift store is meant to be and how to run it properly.
Buyers beware!!! Their pricing was higher than brand new.. I tried returning a sport merchandise 15 minutes after purchase, but refund was refused. Realized that it was more expensive than brand new. Very frustrating experience. I hope they review their policy for fairness.
I was over-served! It was that good. Lots of options for clothing, jewelry and accessories. I do acknowledge some of the prices were a little high but it worked out because of the donation discount (20%). Walked out with full totes! The staff were helpful.
