The store was still close and ask if I can buy food as we are checking out from the hotel. Kuya is so kind that he open his store an hour early to accomodate me. I ordered dinuguan, tapsilog and turon. We love the turon, it's gone in an instant. Diniguan is superb you need rice for it and it's im a bug tub.
I usually order the kamayan on Uber eats but it has not been good lately. The rice is either old or undercooked. The beef is oversalted. It has been increasingly disappointing. I hope they get back to how it was because it used to be so good.
Placed a big order on their website (not a delivery app) and got confirmation for pickup and everything and when we arrived the place was closed. Called the number attached to the location and they said that the store was closed and wasn’t supposed to take orders - even though we placed the order earlier in the day and was sent a confirmation text. They offered to make the order at their other location but it’s at the other side of town, 25-30 mins away. Cancelled the order and hope to be refunded. Hopefully next time they’re more aware of people being able to order on their own website when the location is closed - or better yet, call ahead to see if they’re open and will take your order cause this was a mess and we left with no food. Won’t probably try again unless if by the off chance close by instead of ordering ahead.
My first and will be my last time to try! Doesnt evn deserve a star, but google wont let me I asked if i could have only sisig rather than their pre set version ( poutine like) and pancit palabok. They said yes and i paid $25.00. Since its a take out, i only found out when i got home. The sisig looks like a VOMIT and the pancit palabok looks like a COLORED DRY STRAW!. I DID NOT EVEN DARE TASTE IT! YOU RUINED MY.LOVE OF SISIG AND PALABOK FOR LIFE!!!
I don't think it's a stretch to say Tita Flips is the Godfather of the entire Filipino food awakening here in Toronto. I remember my wife and I passing by her stall on Bathurst/Dundas back in 2014 and thanking our lucky stars - it was the best and most authentic Filipino food we had had since moving to Canada. It wasn't the fanciest food and was served in the most humble of streetside settings. But that's exactly what home is like - no frills, and humbly straightforward - and so that made it perfect. Fast forward to 2020 and there are thankfully many more Filipino food options (and foodtrepreneurs) in the city. But in this time of covid lockdowns and quarantines, I just wanted to support the OG. My wife and I ordered Kanto's kamayan kit, which is basically a boodle box filled with chicken adobo, lechon kawali (crispy pork belly), beef tapa (marinated grilled beef), fried bangus (milkfish), spring rolls, veggies, turon (sweet banana wrapped in sugar coated spring roll), and a whole lot of rice. All this is good for 4 people and just $50. There's a delivery zone (Eglinton to Lakeshore, Jane to Finch), but you can send Kanto's IG a note if you're outside it (we are, and they were kind enough to deliver it to our door). So definitely a good deal! Oh, and after all these years, Tita Flips still has the best lechon kawali. It's not the fanciest dish and is served in a humble tin box, but it tastes like home. Perfect.
Delicious filipino food made with love. Great portions for the price and absolutely gret turon!!!! Will be coming more often after I discovered this place. I would recommend calling ahead to order to avoid the wait.
Hit or miss. The food is delicious, but oftentimes they aren't open even when their hours say they are. Also, they don't always have balut so it's a toss up. Otherwise, it's a good little stand.
