Been in twice. The first time, my ride was waiting for me after surgery and the nurse asked an orderly to take me down. He replied he was going on his coffee break. Nurse said that's fine, you're doing down that way anyway so why not take this patient? Orderly laughed and said "I'm on my break!" again. Nurse rolled her eyes and said it happens quite a lot. A janitor was going downstairs and he offered to take me, which was very nice and not in his job description!I have a friend who is a surgical nurse at Mt. Sinai who says the unions run the place. And the other time I was a patient there I was left in a hallway overnight with agonizing pain from a gall bladder attack and they forgot to give me medication for the pain, even though I reminded them twice. Mt. Sinai looks like a nice hospital, but in terms of patient care, it can't hold a candle to old St. Mike's.

I love and respect this hospital so much. They were so kind and helpful during one of the hardest times of my life. In addition to that, the hospital was clean to my liking. (Im a germaphobe) and the food court was nice. I knew I was in good hands. Thank you so much Mount Sinai!

I had a surgery at Mount Sinai recently and I couldn't be more appreciative of every single nurse and doctor I met there. It was my first surgery ever, so I was super anxious about it, but they were all so caring, professional and attentive which made me feel so calm and comfortable. They really helped make an otherwise nerve-racking experience so much more positive. I've been to a couple of other hospitals downtown Toronto and Mount Sinai by far stood out in patient care and professionalism. Many thanks to the nurses and doctors at Mount Sinai!!!

Absolutely astounding lack of communication. Wife has a high-risk pregnancy, had an issue and we came in to find out if it was serious. Unfortunately it was a busy day and so we've been given the runaround all day long. After 2 hours saw a doctor - fine - have to wait for ultrasound but it's busy - fine. After another 1.5 hrs we're kicked out of room with zero information. We asked if it would be better to just go to our ultrasound appointment down the street since they were so busy and the nurse told us no, it would only be a 1/2hr, just wait. We then waited another 6hrs before finally being seen at the ultrasound, only to find out that at 5:30pm when they had their shift change they had phoned the nurses to say they didn't think there was cause for concern and didn't think they needed to perform the ultrasound. The nurses never told us this and kept telling us soon, 1/2hr more, keep waiting. The RN "Helen" who finally came to get us at 9pm was a breath of fresh air, she was understanding, caring, and let my wife cry and vent at her. If the hospital was staffed with more people like her, this would be a 5 star rating. The actual care here has been great, but those nurses REALLY need to improve their communication skills. It benefits no one to do what they did.

First and foremost, please understand that this is a busy public health facility. Some mannerisms may not always be present due to the Long shifts, and some mental health patients adding complications in the ER. This can affect the staffs mood. Nonetheless, this is my go to facility. Theyve re-attached my cut thumb, removed my appendix and examined me for whiplash twice. Compared to its neighbours, it offers a much higher quality of service.
