DO NOT come here if you have Lyme Disease or a tick bite. The doctors here are terrible. The Minister of Health released a letter to doctors telling them to treat Lyme, and yet this hospital refuses. If you have Lyme you must use "underground" doctors who will give you antibiotics. These doctors live in fear of the main stream of doctors who will complain about "underground doctors." If you have Lyme in Ontario, contact the Ontario Lyme Disease Clinic. Good luck.
Recently witnessed a security staff named Karlie Robinson (glasses, heavier-set, tattoo behind ears) go off on a massive, angry, profanity-filled rant in one of the hallways to another security staff about she's sick of working here. This was in a place in the hospital where kids could literally hear and see her temper tantrum. I was disgusted. Luckily I spoke to another staff who was kind enough to give me her full name and said she has a history of angry meltdowns and a horrible attitude. The staff said multiple people have a problem with her behaviour and are trying to do something about it, hence why the staff was so willing to give me her name. You're supposed to be a security staff, your job is to PROTECT the kids that are staying in the hospital. I certainly don't feel safe having my child be "protected" by security as dangerous as she clearly was. I'll definitely be filing a complaint once my child is out of here.
All doctors and staff are nice. It's a really great place to go for your child's health. I totally recommend this place. But I really hope that they will raise enough money for a new building, because the one now is showing its age.
Our daughter was admitted twice to this hospital and every time we went through the emergency it was the best experience ever. She would get assessed and we waited only 10-15 min to see a doctor. Because she had to be admitted and we got a room. That took a little longer. But the waiting room are still great themselves. All of the nurses and doctor weve seen here and interacted where amazing. Especially since my daughter is terrified of anyone with a medical mask on lol. Prior to coming to sick kids we would try to go to north York. And that was the most terrible experience since they dont specialize in kids. It isnt much their priority. Weve waited three hours without anyone coming to see us. Now if we are worried we drive all the way downtown from Thornhill to ensure she gets the best attentive care possible. Sick kids is truly an amazing institution.
I just spent 5 hours at sick kids hospital which supposedly the best hospital for kids in Ontario. I was very sad to see where all of my donations year after year has been going to. The emergency room was filthy crammed and definitely not made for children to wait around more than 30 minutes. TV is not working floor filthy etc. I was literally seen by three different nurses and had to explain my two-year-olds symptoms three different times. As my daughter was getting seen by a doctor a page went out and she literally ran out of the room in between our diagnosis.
