The lady who works there (could be Ann?) is SUPER overbearing and watches you while you wash and dry. Was over my shoulder the entire time and gave great advice, but I didnt need the lady lerking over me. Made me super uneasy and was very annoying. Interested in finding another laundromat that is more relaxed.
I did laundry for the first time at Ann's Coin Laundry and Refreshements this morning. The owners (son and mother) were very friendly, helpful and professional. I received help and advice when I needed it. I got change easily. I appreciated the selection of refreshments and the pleasant classical radio staton playing in the background. A very pleasant experience indeed.
The owners are amazing. The service is amazing, I actually prefer paying the extra then using the ones where I live. Free hot drinks, plus they offer other services as well. Clean and the washers and dryers are huge :) love that.
Best and the oldest most historic laundry mat in the city, very clean, pleasant very friendly workers and owners, best prices for large and small washers that are all double washers with real hot water. Love the French Dryers, fast drying. Accessible site too! Great variety of detergents and cleaning agents, great prices, best in Canada.Free Wifi, free parking, air conditioning, the best wash and fold services in the city. Fast turn around time for wash and fold, even the same day, no extra fees like everywhere else. Change on the spot even for small amounts, and can use debit. Owners very helpful, showed me how to do laundry correctly and use the machines for the best use of my money. Lots of diverse clientele from all backgrounds, very welcoming. Love the First Nations/aboriginal art displayed within the site. Unfortunately, some people and clients abuse the place and take advantage of the ladies working there. Was present when that bike lady came, she screamed when the employee politely asked for her not to park all day on the bicycle rack. City has placed it too close to the glass windows and window frames of the building. The bicycles are damaging the building when many are parked there. It is the wrong place for the rack. It should be at the street side of the sidewalk not on the property line. People are not considerate. Sometimes there are 4 bicycles tided to that rack, last wind storm the handles were constantly pounding on the glass of the laundry mat. Not fair to the owners who have to fix it. But besides this and other incidents, still the best place to go in downtown Toronto. I fell very safe there, always staff, and keeping trouble makers out, not like other unattended laundry mats. I was there when they threw out some unpleasant guy trying to hit on female patrons, the staff and owners family quickly intervened. You don't get that anywhere else. They should call it, Safe Ann's Coin Laundry and Refreshments.
I have no complaints about the Laundromat itself. What I do have a complaint about is the attitude the lady working inside the store has. I bike to work every day and I just so happened to see an empty 'City of Toronto" bike locking pole near her store. She ran outside and yelled at me telling me I can't park there if I'm not using the Laundromat. She claimed she owned the bike lock post. After I told her that the lock was clearly owned by the City of Toronto, she threatened to call 311 and have my bike and lock removed. After I called the City of Toronto to ask for myself, I gave her my phone so she could hear the city worker tell her word for word that ANYONE was allowed to park their bike there so long as the bike post lock was owned by the City of Toronto. She then yelled at the worker on the phone complaining that bikes park there and they touch the glass of her building. I have worked in the area for many months now and that bike post lock has always been empty. I have NEVER seen a bike parked there and would park my bike elsewhere if I saw people using the Laundromat needing a bike post to lock their bike. This isn't the worst part. As my coworker was leaving work (she is was Asian descent also), the lady ran outside and yelled at her to move the bike thinking it was me. I believe she was being discriminatory towards us and assumed we were the same person. I tested my theory by having my coworker of Caucasian descent unlock my bike for me. Not once did she come out to yell at her. This worker needs to be fired and taught how to speak to people especially when they have done NOTHING BUT SIMPLY LOCK A BIKE ON A CITY OF TORONTO OWNED BIKE LOCK POST.
