Pretty Unique My experience with Riverdale Pilates was when I was really struggling with a severe, persistent back issue. My chiropractor, who is great, suggested that my core was weak and thought Pilates might finally offer some relief. I ended up finding this place by pure luck. I have to be honest, I found Pilates quite difficult at first. I didn't instantly love it, but I grudgingly stuck with it, going three or four times a week. After a few months, I had this amazing realization: my back pain was essentially gone. It was a truly life-changing difference. I hated to admit that something I was so un-enjoying was actually such a life changer, you can blame me for that. This success was all down to the studio’s incredibly professional and informed approach. The owner, Laura, has this wonderful, relentless commitment to continual education. You can feel the impact of her expertise throughout the whole team. Shout out to Sean, Evadne, Geordan, Neesa, Emilie and everyone else I worked with. Every instructor was fantastic—they kept detailed notes and focused entirely on supportive rehab and helping you feel stronger and more capable. My back was healed, my core was improved and I actually began to really love pilates. There were constant challenges and real constant improvement in my flexibility, movement, and awareness. I ended up going from being a rehab client to a full on part of a great community. Eventually, family life and new responsibilities took over, and I drifted away. While I kept using exercises I learned there in my gym routine, the back issues eventually crept back and became chronic again. I tried another, more generic Pilates spot, but their basic, generalized classes actually seemed to aggravate the problem, which was really frustrating. So, I headed back to Riverdale Pilates, now called Pilates Process. While so many instructors had moved on, I was so happy to find Laura still crushing it and the new instructors like Dana and Eva still maintaining that awesome level. Neesa, 1,000% better than ever, Paul still King of Scheduling and classical music . The post-rehab work they’re doing now is nothing short of outstanding. I did a bunch of privates with some great instructors, shout out to Eva, Dana, and Neesa and was pretty quickly back in classes. The actual teaching may be slightly modernized—thank goodness, no endless “Hundreds” anymore!—but that fundamental, core commitment to education, thoughtful rehabilitation, and getting real-life results is totally unchanged. I am genuinely so grateful for their specialized knowledge and care. I wholeheartedly recommend the Pilates Process. They're doing something right and their approach should be the standard for wellness care.
I utilize their services with 2 private training sessions a week with 2 different instructors (Dana and Carmen.) They are both wonderful; their styles are very adaptive and different giving a broad range of excersies. Paul, the office manager (and an instructor as well) is rediculously organized and a joy to be greeted by. They also have a fabulous PT, Ellen, who has done wonders to my shoulder which other physios haven't been able to do. It's a real gem here!
Laura has made Pilates Process the cornerstone of all my rehab and training needs. She has assembled and trained an incredible team (instructors, schedulers, in-studio RMT (awesome)) and is constantly bringing the latest innovations to her staff and students.
