This is the only place in Toronto that reminds me of Portugal. Generous portions, delicious flavour, bread is always hot, food is very well seasoned. The service is 1 million stars: they are pleasant, they clean the tables between courses, they make efforts to accommodate, they are always smiling, and all of it make me feel welcomed, comfortable. I bring friends and family who also enjoy it as well. The octopus rice is the best I’ve eaten here in Toronto! Everything they make that I have tried is fantastic: Octopus lagareiro, Porco Alentejano, Espetada à Madeira, Lulas, Bitoque… everything was amazing!
Very nice Portuguese Restaurant in Toronto,my wife and I enjoyed the food very much, prices were reasonable. It's a must try if you're in the St Clair and Caledonia area. Thanks Lucy for the great service.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Francesinha in Canada! If you’re looking for the real taste of Porto, Portugal right here in Canada, look no further! This place serves an absolutely phenomenal Francesinha – rich, flavorful, and so authentic it instantly brought me back to Porto. The sandwich is perfectly layered with juicy meats, melty cheese, and that signature, mouthwatering sauce that makes all the difference. Honestly, it’s as close as you can get to the original in Portugal – maybe even better! I can’t recommend this spot enough. Whether you’re Portuguese and craving a taste of home, or simply curious to try one of the world’s greatest sandwiches, you must come here and try it. An unforgettable culinary experience!
The food definitely had flavor, and the steak was cooked perfectly—just how I like it. But there was one major disappointment: the fried codfish (bacalhau frito). Three of us ordered it, and two of us ended up with portions that were mostly fish bones. Seriously, it was like they served us the leftover bits. I get it if there were a ton of people ordering the same dish, but to give two out of three of us the bone-heavy portions? Not cool. It’s hard to overlook that when the rest of the meal was so good. I can’t help but feel let down by the lack of care in portioning. If the codfish is going to be the star of the dish, it should be better balanced. Definitely room for improvement there..
Very fortunate to have stepped into Sabores Tradicionais after passing on another resto with an empty patio but two dudes smoking.. Well portioned cod with real garlic hand cut. Hand cut fries with the steak +egg. This was real traditional home cooking!
Service: The waitress we had was super dry. We asked if she had any recommendations, she said “no” bluntly and then back tracked afterwards. They had some specials of the day – one of them was octopus. When we asked how much it was – she told my friend and I to look for the price on the menu. We did that but it didn’t seem to be listed on the menu, so we ended up ordering something else. Food: The mains we got were around $25 - $30 each. My friend got grilled fish (with rice) and I got grilled squid (which came with vegetables). Portions were fair. The dishes themselves were simple but tasty. One gripe is that they would not let us get tap water, so my friend and I ordered a large bottle of water to share ($5). I guess that’s fine, but I’ve never been to a restaurant in Toronto where they refuse to give you tap water in a glass (especially if you are ordering food there). Overall: Would I return? Probably not. I did enjoy the style of food, but other aspects of the experience weren’t quite right for me. Next time I’m craving Portuguese food, I think I would rather try my luck elsewhere in the city.
Definitely a hidden gem! Authentic....DELICIOUS......Traditional Portuguese cuisine. Flaming Sausage, Cod & Potatoes and Grilled Squid were all hits with olives and bread to start. Portion sizes were well above the standard. Missing a little ambiance with the fluorescent lighting at night is the only tiny flaw. I recommend this restaurant to anyone Portuguese or not!
