Hands down one of the best places to eat in the city. Every dish tastes like it was made with intention, tradition and real passion for Portuguese cuisine. The flavors are rich, authentic and deeply comforting — the kind of food that makes you slow down and truly enjoy every bite. You can tell the quality is consistent and the recipes are respected. A place I always come back to when I want real Portuguese food done right.
The best Portuguese restaurant in Toronto. Full of authentic Portuguese flavors that truly feel homemade and traditional. The kitchen keeps the roots of Portuguese cuisine alive, while the space itself feels clean, elegant and beautifully refined. The service is warm, attentive and professional, making the whole experience even more special. A perfect balance between a fancy atmosphere and genuine, soulful Portuguese food. Highly recommend.
We had one of those lunches that stays with you. We asked the kitchen to butterfly the shrimp — and WOW. Hands down the best shrimp I’ve had in a very long time. Perfectly grilled, infused with that unmistakable piri piri heat, and paired with veggies that soaked up all those smoky flavors… truly to die for. Every bite felt like a love letter to Portuguese coastal cooking. For the entrée, we chose the special- rabbit, and all I can say is… unreal. So tender it practically melted, rich yet delicate, surrounded by a sauce that you can’t describe — you just have to experience it. From start to finish, the lunch was warm, comforting, and full of soul. No pretentiousness, no gimmicks — just phenomenal food done the right way. Honestly… a much better experience than Nobu. A hidden gem that deserves serious recognition. Passport & Plate will definitely be back.
I recently hosted an event for over 30 guests here, and we all enjoyed a truly wonderful Portuguese fine-dining experience. I’ve also visited a few times for a night out, and every visit has been consistently excellent. Stef was incredibly accommodating with all of my requests and made sure everything was perfect. The appetizers, main courses, and desserts were all delicious, and the servers were attentive and made sure everyone was well taken care of. Thank you!
I’ve been coming here for awhile and they never disappoint on food, quality and exceptional customer service. It’s a real treat for fine dining and one of my favourite Portuguese restaurants in the city.
We recently celebrated my son’s baptism at Via Norte, and it was an unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely amazing, with every dish perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The service was impeccable—the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. I especially appreciated how accommodating they were, allowing me to bring my own decor and cake to personalize the event. The staff was incredibly helpful with anything I needed throughout the day, making sure the celebration was stress-free and enjoyable for all our guests. If you’re looking for a venue for a special occasion, I highly recommend Via Norte. They made our son’s baptism a special day truly memorable!
I'm not one to write a review. However, I was so impressed with this restaurant that I had to. From the ambiance, the presentation, to the actual flavor of the food. It was amazing. The winterlicious menu had 3 courses and each were phenomenal. I've never had food be so consistently good across the board. My waiter was also very nice and helpful. He even provided sample wine for us to try being that we couldn't decide on one. I don't remember his name but I do remember the experience that he provided. I will most definitely return.
