Came for Malaysian food, but they stopped serving Malaysian dishes. It’s all Cantonese food. But glad we stayed. Food is decent, and service was great! They gave us complimentary soup, dessert and plate of salt and pepper shrimp at the end. The boss was really hands on and served us. Will come back.
I recently visited KL Kitchen Chinese Food in Chinatown, Toronto, and overall it was a warm and satisfying experience—perfect for the winter weather. I especially enjoyed their chicken and herbal hot pot, which was flavourful, comforting, and great for sharing on a cold day. That said, I did find the chicken a bit on the older side in texture, even though it hadn’t been cooked for long. It didn’t ruin the meal, but it’s something worth noting for those who are particular about tenderness. Service-wise, everything was generally smooth, but I’d recommend double-checking the bill at the end. Payments are calculated manually, and I experienced a small error: the 5% cash discount wasn’t applied. It was an easy fix, but good to keep an eye on. Overall, KL Kitchen offers tasty food and a cozy atmosphere. With just a bit more attention to the details, it could be an even better dining spot. I’d still recommend giving it a try—especially for the herbal hot pot!
I walked in with a sick and empty stomach. I was craving some childhood favourite dish Steamed egg cooked in herbal chicken soup. Also ordered steamed t’empila. The stuff were so kind and chef’s skills is excellent 5/5. foods came quick, fresh and delicious!!! Will definitely go back.
The manager is really nice and he recommends some daily specials to customers. The servers do not talk much but they clean the tables and change your plates in a timely manner. This is a good sign of authentic Cantonese restaurants. I suggest that you listen to the manager’s recommendations. We ordered the XO酱炒见子, which is really tasty. Their chicken soup is also famous (but maybe trying it once would be enough), and also is of big portion (more than enough for two people). I have been to this restaurant like 3 times and I am not disappointed any time, which indicates their consistency of food quality.
Absolutely terrible customer service. We were a group of four people and ordered four main dishes. However, the old female server aggressively insisted on upselling us, claiming we didn't have vegetables. When I declined, an she became incredibly hostile. She proceeded to get our order wrong, and there wasn't a single apology. To top it off, after we had already paid another server and were getting ready to leave, she literally ran up to us and falsely accused us of not paying. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and accusatory interaction. This was a truly horrible experience from start to finish. I will never be returning and do not recommend this place to anyone.
Pretty good for authentic Chinese food! We had a party of 7, and everyone enjoyed the meal. However, the place was busy so it could get loud pretty quickly. You could hear noises from guests sitting at the nearby table.
Will never go again. The food was okay but billing was shady. Highly doubt that we are charged with tax during tax break since all the bills are hand written. My credit got charged twice for no reason.
