Both Abla and Frank approached me with warmth and professionally guided me through my choices, even letting me try different pens. They made thoughtful connections to my description of my friend, helping me find the perfect gift. The experience was unhurried, and the entire team conducted themselves with quiet, expert confidence.
This is a great little store. It is clear that the owner, Peter, is passionate about the items that he sells and he is very knowledgeable about everything in the store. I was able to purchase one of the last Hobonichis left in the province and we had a great chat while there. If you are in the market for pens or stationary, definitely go to Laywine’s!
Walked in as a novice for a new journal and was immediately overwhelmed by the variety and choice in front of me. The owner, Peter Laywine, was kind enough to spend almost half an hour walking me through the fantastic selection and answering all of my questions thoughtfully. I walked out with about 3x what I had intended to buy and would do so again in a heartbeat. The real advantage of Laywine's isn't the location, niche product selection, or variety - it's that everyone there is truly passionate about what they do, and their mission seems to be to impart that same passion on everyone who walks in the door. To anyone else looking for an entry into this world, could not recommend any higher.

Excellent selection of fountain pens, paper, inks, pen cases, and much more. Extraordinarily friendly, helpful and dedicated staff. Had a minor issue with one of my pens. The issue was resolved immediately, and a replacement was delivered to my doorstep THE NEXT DAY. Highly recommended!
