Good coffee and pastries, nice setting. They don't offer whole milk, which is fine, but I thought it odd when the staff tried to convince me that cafes in Toronto as a rule don't offer whole milk, as I've never experienced that before or sincel. Doesn't impact the bottom line for this establishment, great corner coffee spot, it's just an amusing anecdote.
I've been here dozens of times to chill while I do laundry. + It's a clean, pleasant place + Friendly staff + Good loyalty program that offers a free drink or pastry item, though it's a bit opaque with how long until your next one. + Sometimes they do events, such as the typewriter hands-on and the local food market. + Fun seasonal drinks, but perhaps a little too many. - The espresso shots they pull are consistently very bitter, even with milk. I would expect them to be better dialed in, especially given it's always the same beans and you can get better for cheaper in Kensington market, etc. It tastes like supermarket pre-ground.
Just ordered a cinnamon apple latte upon suggestion by the barista and it was so good; It never occurred to me to pair apples and coffee but I am a fan. I love Chaveta! The staff are always so friendly and it feels so good to support small businesses with coMpoStabLe cups!!
