Playground is a quiet little spot with great coffee and delicious pastries. It’s the perfect place to unwind — whether you’re reading, working, or just chatting. The cozy, hipster vibe gives it plenty of charm, and it’s also a surprisingly good spot for a casual date — relaxed, intimate, and effortlessly cool.

Service is ok, only one person working. Barista not friendly, but not rude. Interior was a lot smaller than I thought. Much more run-down than I expected. I felt uncomfortable sitting in there. On a positive note, it is dog friendly!

Service was slow when I went, but there seemed to be only one barista on shift so my friends and I were pretty understanding. They told me they were out of many menu items and other necessary ingredients to which I wasn’t too put off by, but the barista got my drink order wrong which I paid extra for (and did not get compensated for) alongside messing up the croffle I ordered, which took 20 minutes to make and came out cold and soggy. I chalked it all up to only having one staff on shift, but by the time I was going to leave the barista started whispering for who I presumed was her coworker just sitting at one of the tables with their headphones in and on their computer. Unprofessional conduct, not great service, drinks and food were mid at best. Maybe I was just having a bad day, but I wouldn’t come back here.

I stumbledupon this fabulous cafe which is obviously a hidden gem in the Parliament/Aredeen Ave area. it appears this cafe has a unique vibe with delightful offerings. The tea was fantastic. The service from Elizabeth was excellent making me feel very welcomed. I will most certainly return to enjoy a quiet afternoon and capture some great photos in their space tgat has fantastic decor. This cafe seems to hit the mark.

With the coffee culture blowing up now in Toronto, you expect to have a perfect cup everytime. Place looks cool, unfortunately coffee wasn’t great. Milk and espresso were both burned.

I went with a friend a hour or two before closing and their door was locked. No sign outside or anything. We tried again a few days later, it was then open. Please notify your customers with a sign ATLEAST. Fix your closing times if it’s always this inconsistent. I’ve seen multiple reviews before and it looks like it has happened to others before me. FIX THIS.

Hands down one of the best coffee places I’ve had ever. With a diverse selection of Asian drinks, from Thai tea to matcha to Viet coffee, Playground was a daily ritual for my group all 3 days we were in Toronto. Estelle runs a one-woman crew, and while the wait might be on the longer side, it’s clear she crafts each drink with love and care. Milk substitutions are available, and there’s also a selection of fresh flaky croissants and croffles. Will definitely be back next time we’re in town - love from Chicago!

Good Day Grace! Thank you for this review and we are currently short staffed. We are also training new staff as of the moment. Again, I really apologize for this and would like to compensate you back for the bad experience. If you could please email us as we do want to make this right. [email protected] Thank you, Management
