The food is traditional European, fresh and all made in house. They sell cooked food, packaged products and a wide selection of sweets and cakes. I ordered a slab of Spartak cake and it was truly amazing - all my guests commented on how fresh and tasty the cake was and it looked absolutely beautiful and impressive. Thank you Natalia for bringing these beautiful food products into our home.
I was heading to the Jane Subway when I saw this cute Ukrainian bakery shop, and I knew I had to step inside. I was immediately greeted with kindness and professionalism. I purchased their homemade pierogis and never looked back. The Cake Smith makes the Best Homemade Pierogis I have ever had! The clerk informed me about Ukrainian Festival and I'm glad I came back, and brought my family too! I also ordered a poppyseed loaf and mini red velvet cake cupcakes. It was fresh and not tasting like dirty fridge/freezer smell! I enjoyed it! My family enjoyed it! Plus, we just visited their outside shop and had the cheddar and potato pierogis, plus one sausage, it was so good!!! Will be coming back again to support!
The food here is phenomenal! Authentic, homemade and delicious. And reasonably priced. We tried perogies, saurkraut, cabbage rolls, quiche, borscht and a couple of desserts. In particular, the borscht is the very best we’ve ever tasted! We’ve already come back to Bloor W Village just for this place.
Spent almost $50 on a dozen cupcakes for my son and his friends. The icing tasted ok but the cake itself was so incredibly dry- it was disgusting. I cant believe they actually had the audacity to sell people dry and stale cupcakes. Inedible, gross, and tossed into the garbage just like my $50! My first and last time here. Do not buy cupcakes from here unless you prefer them dry and tasteless. Waste of my hard earned money. I wish I read the reviews FIRST! Other reviews show pictures of stale looking dry cake, and the owner responds by saying you can tell by the picture how moist the cake is? The cake looked like it was hacked with a saw because it couldn't even be sliced through the tough stale layers. Pretty storefront, disgusting stale old cupcakes! And please don't waste time responding to my review with denial and gaslighting- unless I can come back and pick up the $50 I wasted.
Great Desserts, Terrible Presentation My husband and I stopped in for coffee and dessert after walking along Bloor Street. While the café looked elegant from the outside, the experience was disappointing. Despite saying we were dining in, my cake was served still wrapped in paper, on a paper plate, with a plastic fork. That’s completely unacceptable in a sit-down setting—especially at a place that presents itself as refined. I wouldn’t expect this even at a fast-food chain. I had to specifically ask for my cappuccino to be served in a proper cup instead of paper. Why even ask if we’re staying in if everything is handed out like takeout? The atmosphere was just as underwhelming. It was dead silent—no music, no ambiance—just awkward quiet where you could hear every bite and sip. It felt cold and uncomfortable, and definitely not a place I’d want to relax or return to. The only redeeming factor was the taste of the desserts—they were genuinely good. But great food can’t make up for poor presentation and an eerie, unwelcoming vibe. Not coming back.
We celebrated our son’s birthday last summer and he wanted a fifa men’s soccer birthday cake. Cake smith did an amazing job making it and everyone loved it!!
I ordered a white chocolate birthday cake and Natalie was very helpful when I explained what I wanted. The cake was fresh and delicious. The staff at The Keg commented on its quality when they served it. I would definitely order here again.
