I had the absolute pleasure of taking a cake decorating class at Velvet Lane! The instructor Danielle was knowledgable, friendly, patient and helpful, guiding us through all the steps and stepping in to help when needed. We learned great techniques for icing and piping and got to take home a delicious, beautiful cake in the end. Thank you so much Velvet Lane for such a wonderful evening! I will be sure to return!!

The service is just as impressive; the staff are warm, attentive, and always make you feel welcome. Whether you’re grabbing a quick latte or sitting down to relax, the experience is consistently amazing.
I celebrated my birthday at Velvet Lane Cakes & Cafe, taking part in their cake workshop with a few close friends. Not only was the workshop absolutely fun (with the added benefit of taking home a delicious cake), but it was also incredibly informative. Danielle was an excellent instructor. She taught us different decorating techniques, was incredibly patient and kind, and made the experience all the more enjoyable. 10/10 would highly recommend!
Our personalized cake was SUCH a hit to celebrate our scientific society's 40th anniversary! Perfect for our group of insect scientists at the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene meeting, recently hosted at Toronto Convention Center. I reached out to the Velvet Lane bakers a few months before the event, and sent real photos of three species of insect we wanted to feature as well as the logo of our subgroup (American Committee of Medical Entomology)- then the artists/bakers took over with a creative vision! The natural vibe of the cake, the way our society's logo was displayed, and the details in the mosquito, tick, and kissing bugs were amazing. We selected red velvet, because the insects we study are all blood-sucking vectors. I am so glad to have found Velvet Lane for this special job! This cake will live on in our society's history. We had it delivered right to our meeting room at the Convention Center. Thank you so very much for your creativity and perfection!
I have been a long time customer of Velvet Lane Cakes and use them for custom cakes for many of my occasions. Every time I have given them an idea for a cake they have executed the designs even better than imagined! Their attention to detail is outstanding. Besides the cakes looking beautiful they taste delicious.
Velvet Lane Cakes is amazing. The cakes look great and taste even better moist, fresh, and full of flavour. You can tell they put real care into what they make and the service is excellent. Definitely my go to.
Sorry to say but, the Banana Pudding was the only reason I'd make a trip to Velvet Lane as the rest of the desserts we tried were dry. Unfortunately, not only did the size of their packaging decrease while the price remained the same, the overall quality took a nosedive as it tasted off and definitely different from how it was being made prior.
