I have been going to Afrolatino for almost a year and every class I've taken have been amazing! Albena has helped me to become a much more confident dancer and person. I've learned so much from all the dance instructors and students, from turns to styling, techniques and shines. This community is kind and welcoming, and the socials are always lots of fun!
My partner and I had such a great time learning Salsa Level 1. Our instructor, Maya, was an excellent teacher. She explained and demonstrated the steps in a simple and effective way. She was patient and supportive with our group throughout, especially when we were grasping more complicated steps. I would highly recommend joining one of her classes!
Been going here for years and I have no regrets! Every time I go to a class I walk out smiling with an extra beat in my step. The classes are contagious, the people are friendly, and the instructors are talented! Highly recommend :)
I can see why the reviews are so high. Really enjoyed learning kizomba with albena. Very patient instructors that know how to break things down well. Will continue learning and will come by when next in Toronto. Thanks albena
I totally recommend this dance school because of the quality of the dance syllabus and the instructor. I have never seen a school with a detailed structure like this before :-). Aside from that structure, the teacher I have had so far - Albeina - is superb. She is very detail-oriented so she will stop mid-class to make sure that every student is on the same page and answer all questions. Especially if you are like me and do not have any dance background whatsoever, this is a refreshing attitude in an instrutor. (Albeina is the only teacher I have had so far so I do have a limited exposure to the quality of the other instructors.) But, she makes it easy for to ask questions and I like this because I don't feel stupid for asking (as some dance schools downtown make you feel when you ask the instructors questions) which just removes a barrier to learning the steps. I especially like her emphasis on *repetition of routines* which just sears the steps in my brain until it becomes natural. Anyway I can go on on... My experience so far with this school is great. I hope it remains that way.
I stumbled across AfroLatino Dance Company several years ago when I was at a very low point in my life. Taking classes here was one of the best choices I ever made, and I didn't know it at the time but it ended up being the first step to coming back to myself and feeling whole again. The teachers are fabulous, the music is awesome, and you always leave class feeling better than when you went in!
It has been around 5 yrs now since I took my first class at AfroLatino Dance Company and I still enjoy the classes!! I fell in love with Albena's Brazilian Samba and Lady's Salsa Styling classes and was quite happy I discovered the school. The friendly and family atmosphere at the studio has always been welcoming. For me this was the only school in Toronto where I was able to learn the authentic movements of Brazilian and Cuban dance. I love the company and would recommend it any day!
