Just wanted to leave a review that we came on a Friday at about 1pm. Although both on google maps and their physical sign at the restaurant say they're open, they weren't. I'm not sure why though. We were looking forward to eating here!

Our second time to this place for lunch and we are dazzled by the food. We ordered the vegetarian platter for two, and each of the six different foods on the injera had a unique and full flavour. Definitely the best Ethiopian food we have ordered anywhere. And very modestly priced. The service was friendly, warm, wonderful. We live about 90 minutes from Toronto, and this place is worth the trip! Note from 31 August: We have now gone a couple more times. This place just keeps getting better. It's transcendent.

LOVE this place! I used to eat here regularly when I lived in the city; so now that I live more than an hour away, making a visit to Abyssinia is a MUST every time I am anywhere nearby. This is absolutely, hands down, the BEST Ethiopian food in the city, no comparison. Sanadoo is amazing at what she does! Her Berbere sauce is in a league of its own, I am a massive fan of the vegetarian platter, can't seem to get enough (I am not a vegetarian, that may tell you something?). TRULY, the Alicha Wot is incredible, yebeg tibs is dream haunting, the kitfo is Devine; and the injera...OMG you'll think you've died and gone to heaven! I could go on and on. Honestly, no matter what dish it is, it's always the very best I have ever had. I crave her food all the time and grieve the reality that I simply live too far away to make a regular visit to indulge my love of Ethiopian food. If you are looking for the best Ethiopian food you've ever had... Look no further. You've found it at Abyssinia. Enjoy!

By Far The Best Habesha Cuisine I Had In The City. The Shiro Wot And Cha-Cha Tibs Were Amazing. They Were Generous With The Portions They Served Us, It Was Very Filling And Satisfying. Top Tier Establishment Forsure.

Very disappointing! The food came cold. When we returned it. They warmed it up in the microwave and returned with parts eaten that we sent back. Looks good when it arrives but is COLD!! After speaking to the manager she got upset with no attempt to rectify the situation at the end. I will be reporting this to the city as cold food including meat that came cold when you bite into it is unacceptable.

I went to this restaurant only once (before the pandemic) and will never go back. Yes, the food is Ethiopian, but the quality is low, even though the prices are high. Yes, I understand that we don't have very good Ethiopian restaurants anywhere in Toronto, but that doesn't mean that we have to put up with low quality for high prices. For those of us who travel around major cities in North America and have tried amazing Ethiopian food, this place is a complete disappointment, and not only the food, but the décor is shabby and the service staff disinterested. If you are ever in Boston, MA, go to Addis Red Sea Ethiopian Restaurant - Boston MA 02116. Mind-blowing, haute-cuisine Ethiopian food, in an amazing ambience that looks like a museum with artifacts everywhere, and all the staff are dressed in traditional Ethiopian clothes and are super-friendly and polite. And the prices there (even when converted from $USD) are the same as this restaurant!

Wow. Never have I ordered from a restaurant more unorganized. We ordered a 4 person platter via phone and they told us to come in 20min. Showed up 25 min later, and they had no record of the order and nothing was ready. They had no idea what they were talking about. Waited 47 minutes for them to prepare it until we finally asked for a refund which they wouldn't give so had to wait almost an hour for the food. Worst service and horrible customer service.

Sorry for the inconvenience but we do not serve frozen food. You can complain but do it with common sense.
