I've been to this Ethiopian restaurant a few times and every time its an incredible experience! The food is amazing, full of flavour and fresh. The staff are like your friends, theyre so sweet and kind and honest and helpful! Definitely go here, you will have a delicious meal and memories!
Oh, Nunu. Where do I even begin? My culinary journey to central Africa has, until now, been a vast, unexplored territory, a land filled with whispers of fragrant spices and delicious stews. My only previous encounter with Ethiopian food was a fleeting, almost-mythical experience at a food fest years ago—a beef and veggie sample so good it haunted my dreams for what felt like an eternity. Then, Nunu appeared. Like a beacon in the night, a savory mirage on Queen Street, it called to me. I took the plunge and ordered the Doro Wat. I mean, what is a Doro Wat, you ask? It's a spicy chicken dish so legendary it could probably settle international disputes. The smell from the container on the ride home was so intoxicating I almost swerved off the road. It was like the chicken itself was serenading me, promising a flavour explosion. And oh, did it deliver. The Doro Wat was a masterpiece. The chicken was cooked to perfection, bathing in a sauce that was a symphony of spices—spicy, rich, and so satisfying. It was a flavour party in my mouth, and every bite was an absolute triumph. Now, about the injera. Bless its heart. It’s a brave and noble flatbread, but for me, it was a culinary puzzle. It had a texture that reminded me of a rubbery crepe that was trying its best to be a blanket for the delicious chicken. It's not you, injera, it's me. This is a strictly personal preference, but my taste buds and injera's texture just didn't get along. The fact that the chicken was so good that it still made the meal amazing despite the injera speaks volumes. I’m already planning my return. This was just the warm-up. I've heard tales of their spicy beef tibs, a dish so good it can win anyone's heart. I’ll be back to dine in soon, ready to embrace the full Nunu experience—and maybe, just maybe, I’ll learn to love injera along the way.
What a wonderful experience or party of 5 had at this restaurant! We enjoyed a meat and veg tasting platter for 4 and it was out of this world. All the offerings on the platter were so fresh and tasty not to mention beautifully put together! We also thought the beef tartare was delicious! Owner/servers were so kind and nice! We could tell the food was made with love and pride. Loved the Nunu's mocktail.
Nunu is one of my favourites. My best friend absolutely loves it, so we go more often than most other restaurants and have celebrated many of her birthdays there over the last 10 years. The owner/chef Nunu is the best. Her food is consistently delicious, the vegan mixed plate never gets old - she’s always serving something a little different. The salad is amazing with fresh herbs. As a bonus, she always makes us feel special with hugs and a bright smile. Her husband Chris makes one of my all time favourite cocktails (Tej), which tastes like if Christmas and summer had a baby and is perfect as a mocktail too! We take friends there regularly and always have a nice time. It is a true gem of a restaurant.
True hospitality. The staff the vibes. They even brought over some ethnic squash for free because we are semi regulars. I love this place and I hope it lasts for a long time.
Highly recommended. I’m surprised that there’s a brewery on the side of the restaurant, and I love Nunu’s recommended beer and the platter covers all the must try items. Will go again
