Each time, I've been in the store, the gentleman at the counter, very likely the owner(looks a bit like his dad who I'd see more often in the past years), is quick to help and does so quite kindly and generously. He walks you down to the part of the store where the product is and makes suggestions. He is also a pleasure to interact with. Attentive, thoughtful and helpful, he provides great service. I have really appreciated the service and products from this store. Thank you for setting a great example of customer service. We really appreciate you and will continue to support you!
Awesome experience. I didn't need help, but overheard the owner helping an older lady who was asking questions about a home repair. Owner was very friendly when I was at the checkout.
What’s the deal with the staff at this location? I just don’t get the bad attitude. It’s like being miserable is a prerequisite to work here. Staff are consistently snarky, cold & condescending… it’s almost as if customers are an inconvenience. Went in again today & had yet another mind boggling experience in terms of “customer service”. I was there to buy one single screw for my tripod and had such a rude encounter that I did not purchase said screw… instead I’m here now writing a 1 star review. Get it together, Hillcrest Home Hardware.
As usual terrible service. As said by other people I have given the store numerous chances over the years because they are local and I try to shop local. Ask for Murdoch as he’s the only polite and helpful person there, unfortunately he’s usually stacking shelves and thus you get one of the other grump bags at the desk when you walk in. . I will never shop there again, and I suggest that you don’t either….unless you get Murdoch. If I was Home hardware I’d hire Murdoch so he doesn’t lose his job and close the store as it doesn’t bode well for the brand.
I have given this place several chances and I will not be returning. Waited at the cash while the man read his newspaper until he grunted and got up to cash me out. He has been rude to me before, and then he charged me 15% tax on my purchase. Other employees have been better and I usually find what I need, but it is not a place I want to support anymore.
Smashing IT! This hardware store has been in the neighbourhood for ages. Nestled in the heart of the St. Clair West Village, it's a no nonsense hardware store without all the extra annoying bells and whistles. If you have a project and you know what you want, and you really don't want to deal with the crowded Canadian Tire store, than this is the place for you. Very helpful and they will do their best to assist you with any home project you have going.
Wow!! Maybe they just didn't like me This is the service I got: I asked where I can find soil, the guy just told me where to go and he went right back to his crossword. I have been there twice and trust me, it won't be a third time. I get better service at Dollarama across the street where staff will go with me to show me where to find where is the product and it's not even their own business.
