OK, here we go. I was waiting to do a review on this place until I tried a couple of different things. I discovered Marc the other day when I was in search of some chicken soup because my friend was feeling ill. He had ackee and salt fish ready for breakfast. I was very excited to say the least. And then pleasantly surprised by the softest fried dumpling I’ve ever had. I came back and tried the oxtail after that, and I was completely won over. I’m hesitant to eat at random restaurant especially random Caribbean places. But Mark’s kitchen produces nothing an amazing eats and they’re made with love. Run, don’t walk to get some lovely homestyle Caribbean cooking.
Ordered the curry goat, and oxtail - it cane with a side of fresh crunchy coleslaw. Everything was so flavourful and fall off the bone! Portions were big and filling! The guy is friendly, making service and atmosphere very welcoming. Great neighborhood spot!
We live nearby and stopped in for some Oxtail and rice and peas. Really good oxtail and yummy rice. Very good size meal at a fair price. Not a fancy place, more a take out space with a couple of tables if you want to sit in. We met Mark, the owner, and he is a lovely man. We will definitely be back.
This is my second review and of this place. Caribbean Queen Jerk of Jane is the best place to get Caribbean food in my opinion. The person serving the food (I believe his name is Mark) is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. He’s friendly to all the people that come in, especially to the kids. I personally go there for lunch during school and get the Half jerk hall fried chicken and rice box and the food always tastes amazing. If you are going to try out some Caribbean food, eat here as the customer service, quality, and proportions here is top notch.
Came here today just wanted quick Jamaican food and never tried this location. Most Caribbean queens are always amazing .. unfortunately I got the oxtail on a Friday evening and it was under cooked !!! Like cmon the meat was so tough I could barely bite it off the bone and it was mostly fat and bone. Extremely disappointing!!!! And the rice and peas tasted like it was stale from a day or two ago…. Flavours were good that’s about it.. Would not recommend this place and would not come back to this location EVER I bought curry goat / oxtail rice and peas and fish soup.. not good .. curry goat was ok .. fish soup was not at good spent 36$ .. waste of my money
Great place friendly staff, good food, fair prices. Gets busy around lunch but it's worth the wait! Hope we have not lost this favorite place. Not been open for a couple of weeks now...
Yummmmm. We had the Jerk chicken dinner. Great depth of flavor. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and the rice and peas were really pleasing. I will return to try the rest of the menu.
