nice selection for the space, friendly staff, but pay cash and do not under any circumstances give them your email address. even if you don't sign up for marketing, their POS harvests your contact info from credit/debit payment, and they will never leave you alone. je ne comprends pas "unsubscribe"
Had a delightful experience at Cookery today! I had ordered a beau-ti-ful new coffee maker on their website that I had been eyeing and they had a super quick pick-up turn around time. Service in-store was prompt and friendly - they even shared in the excitement for my new purchase! In addition, there are so many beautiful and colourful gourmand gadgets and I must say, some really awesome sounding classes I'll be looking to sign up for. Thank you to the lovely ladies working today! I'll be back!
I am sharing my experience with The Cookery Roncasvalles. I trust and like The Cookery. The staff are helpful and very honest. I bought an expensive Scanpan as a gift and the staff was very thorough and helpful in helping select this item. They know good quality cookware costs a lot but they are also budget conscious and don’t pressure you into buying something you don’t want or need and I appreciate that. When we came back to the store looking for a French press they were upfront about not necessarily needing to buy an expensive one versus a regular bodum. We will keep shopping at the cookery for years to come. Also if you want to talk shop, these people are cookware nerds in the best way!
Ordered my item online and it was ready for pickup in 2 hours. Owner was very friendly and even gave recommendations for replacement parts in case of damage or chipping. The order even came with a lovely thank you card from the owner ☺️
My favorite store. It is a cooking heaven rather than a store. The staff are extremely polite, friendly and knowledgeable. I have never walked out of that store feeling unsatisfied. It is a must visit store for all cooking enthusiasts.
Whether you are an experienced home cook or seldom hold a knife, classes at The Cookery on Roncesvalles are for you. This January I enjoyed the Moroccan menu organized by Chef Joyce Singh. While dividing the labour involved in preparing a soup, harissa rubbed lamb shoulder, Moroccan pretzels, stuffed grape leaves, grilled vegetable with herbs and almonds, and a rich dessert, twelve strangers quickly became cooking buddies. Chef Joyce explained the history of the dishes and the ingredients, while teaching cooking techniques including knife skills. The result was a beautiful feast paired with appropriate wine. A surprise outcome was the private exchange of emails with others who love to cook. It was a fun evening. I’ve already signed up for the Sicilian class in February.
Racist Staff Refused to Serve us!! We normally would not even think of going into a store like this that supposedly puts on cooking classes in the back of their store .. But somebody gave us a gift certificate for $264 and suggested we take their Fusion cooking class which was only offered last night. Not wanting the gift certificate to go to waste we travelled across the city to get to the most difficult location that you can ever get to from North York by car in rush hour to barely arrive before the 7:00PM class had started. We walk in and it's a messy cluttered store with a harvest table at the back where the cooking classes were supposed to take place .. the table sits 14 - 16 (with no burners or anything resembling a cooking class) by 7:05 there were only 6 other people there. Too late to back out now as we were famished .. We go to the front counter present them with the gift certificate and we tell them that we're here for the cooking class and the older White lady asks us if we made reservations and we said no (we didn't know we had to) but maybe the person who bought us the gift certificate did? She asked for their name .. pretended to look in her illegible book and then in the computer and says Sorry I don't see any reservations and we're Sold Out?!? By then it's 7:10 they're serving Soup to the 6 guests no sign of anyone doing any cooking except the chef!! We said Sold Out?!? There are only 6 people here surely you can squeeze 2 more people in the table of 16?!? So she tells my wife "NO I'M SORRY WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH CUTLERY!!!" Well gag me with a Spoon ... This is so precious .. the cooking class for 16 inside the pot/cuttery Cookery store doesn't have 2 more sets of cutlery!!! LOL So I tell my wife we're never coming back here so we should just get a refund for the $264 gift certificate and the older obtuse white lady says Sorry we can't refund gift certificates. So those clowns won't serve us and they also stole our $264 too!!! Great Way to run a business .. and Hope the $264 that you stole will serve you well in life .. Karma my friend Karma!!
