David Kelman is highly competent, professional and personable. It made for a pleasant experience. From the very first conversation regarding the purchase of a property he was knowledgeable and easy to relate to (compared to another lawyer I was considering at the time). Schwarz LLP is the place to go for substandard service, lack of communication and missed deadlines. I reached out to them for a pre-construction review. They were very prompt in responding to my query and acquiring my business. They quoted me the highest of all the law firms I contacted. I still went ahead due to their stellar Google reviews. They took my business and ensured the review would be completed within 5 days. With a 10-day cool-off period, 5 days would have been perfect and would have given me some time to negotiate with the builders' lawyers. The completion date was on a Friday. Friday comes and I don’t hear anything from them. Multiple emails, calls results to nothing. After the entire workday was over, around 6 pm, I get a hastily written email from the associate assigned to me that he got very busy with another closing. Who schedules closing on a Friday? Or even if he was busy, a bit of response to my email would have been appreciated. He basically let me know he could not do anything to accommodate my timeline and I can expect the review from him end of day Monday as they don’t work through weekends. A little heads up would have been nice. Now I was losing 3 whole days of negotiation. The builder worked through weekends so I was banking on that time. Needless to say, we lost time and leverage due to Schwarz’ incompetence! I reached out to Jayson Schwarz who assigned the associate to our case and he was COMPELTELY UNAPOLOGETIC, quite arrogant really and basically told us there was nothing he would do to accommodate their own MISSED DEADLINE. I realized at that point even if these guys came back on Monday with the review it would be completely worthless, given their attitude. At that point, I went ahead and retained another law firm (Kormans LLP). Explained our situation to them. They provided the review within a day also helped us during the negotiation process for the exact same price. We managed to knock off quite a few charges with this new law firms aid. I am very glad I made that choice to switch because when Monday rolled around, the associate who missed the deadline was still being shifty about providing the review and I knew I had made the right call. TLDR: AVOID THESE GUYS IF YOU WANT PROPER LEGAL SERVICE AND ACCOUNTABILITY
