The Sound Post team in Toronto has been amazing and helpful during our mucial journey for 11 years. Thank you for your detailed attention to the instruments' need, and transperancy.

Have been doing business with this shop for 15 years, even before moving to Toronto—ordered strings, violin cases, and other accessories from The Sound Post when I lived out west. It is nice to have this shop available to visit in person these days. In particular, I enjoyed a bow purchase experience from a while ago, dealing with a salesperson named Sal. He provided me with a selection of 12 (!) different bows to try (without prices marked and within my price range, plus a few high-end bows inserted just for a surprise) to compare to my own bows. He recommended this approach because he said bows should be chosen according to how they feel to the player more than basing choice mainly on price point. It proved to be a good suggestion because with the ample undisturbed time I was given, I narrowed the selection to several bows. Then, Sal recommended that I sign them out and take them home to play with for a week or so before making a final decision. In the end, I was happy to have been given ample time and comfort to choose a bow that I have been very content with since. It would be interesting and fun to apply this same process to choosing another violin—I have heard that the store offers a wide variety of instruments as well. Thanks to The Sound Post for facilitating challenging purchase decisions in the manner that they do.

Sound Post provided an excellent shopping experience! Their supportive and friendly staff helped me try different viola chin rests until I found the right fit. When my preferred item was out of stock, they kept their promise to notify me once it arrived, and the exchange process was effortless. Truly great customer service—highly recommended!

Really disappointing experience with The Sound Post. While they offer a large selection of instruments for purchase and rental, their customer service is severely lacking. We have rented instruments from them for several years and purchased a violin, which was fine. However, our recent experience with a cello rental has been frustrating and unacceptable. This is the second time we’ve encountered subpar service, both involving Harikoa. While she may be skilled at evaluating instruments, she clearly lacks the interpersonal skills required for client-facing interactions. In particular, she charged us for normal wear and tear on the cello, despite the warranty and our careful handling of the instrument. We politely disagreed, and another representative acknowledged our complaint. In the meantime, we have had to pay while waiting for resolution, yet nearly two weeks later, Harikoa has still not followed up with the store owners as we requested. It is extremely disappointing that a store with such a great selection treats loyal customers this way, forcing them to pay for a dispute and leaving issues unresolved for weeks.

I recently ordered music from their website for my cello solo with piano accompaniment. I originally ordered three separate pieces but was later emailed and told that they did not have one of them in stock, and that the alternative would be a separate, cheaper book (that’s the same edition!) that would include all three pieces (plus a couple more). Very pleased with this experience.

Visited The Sound Post this weekend and was blown away by the experience. Not knowing that they make appointments we showed up and they found time to spend with us and walked us through a handfull of violins and offered they're expertice but also let us come to our own conclusions to find the sound we wanted. I wouldnt consider looking for a violin anywhere else going forward

From damaging my cello and denying it, to waiting for 10+ minutes in line to check out and being completely ignored by staff, the Sound Post has consistently been an utter disappointment. Perhaps their elusive professionalism and service is reserved only for their professional musician clients, where they may actually face some level of accountability. I will never recommend them to anyone.
