As your eyes gaze upon the matcha-studded opera, your mind wells with anticipation of the harmonious symphony that’s due to play as you slice your fork delicately through the soul of earth, layered with intent. The sponge cake base is moist and pleasantly smooth, wth just the slightest hint of almond flour grittiness that adds subtle texture. The velvety matcha mousseline sings with a fragrant, mildly bitter earthiness, while the dark chocolate ganache introduces a bittersweet cocoa depth that perfectly complements the green tea notes. Every forkful culminates in a moist, tender bite that harmonizes the floral melody of matcha with chocolate’s indulgent hymn. The second act, performed by Ma Cherie, is as much fun to listen to individually as it is all together. The cherry blossom tea jelly on top is chewy yet smooth, encased in a delicate crisp layer of ruby chocolate. Beneath lies a silky ruby chocolate chantilly, followed by a sweet-tart cherry and raspberry compote that cuts through the richness with a vibrant acidity. The base surprises with a crunchy sesame caramel cracker, adding a subtle savory note that ties all the layers together, creating an intricate harmony of flavours and textures. It’s that post-meal dessert spot that’ll make you forget what you had for lunch entirely.

Loved this spot — comfy to sit, great drinks, and the desserts and pastry were amazing. One of the top patisserie in GTA. Will definitely be back and recommend to friends!✨

I heard about this spot a few weeks ago. I dropped by today and got the chocolate bar pastry. It had a great flavour, was smooth and tasty to eat. They had a few different pastries that sounded yummy. I need to come back.

Even though the place is cute and service is nice, the dessert is truly DISAPPOINTING. It is branded as refined patisserie with each cake priced $10+, but has the quality of a mediocre home bakery. I ordered the cherry & chocolate one - had the most dry cake base in my life. It’s dryer than bread. I think a Costco muffin is 10 times more delicious than that base. Usually I finished my desserts but this time I left more than half. The other components are just okay, except the topping jelly which is somehow interesting. The quality needs some major improvement.

Awesome place, Cho Kwok Lat in downtown Toronto is a stunning dessert spot where artistry meets flavour, offering beautifully crafted pastries and chocolates that taste as good as they look. The space feels modern and welcoming, with friendly staff who clearly care about quality and presentation. It’s a perfect stop for a refined treat or an impressive gift that showcases Toronto’s upscale dessert scene.

I’ve tried most of their pastries, several desserts, and their cappuccino — all of which were excellent in quality and taste. The café itself is very clean, nicely designed, and has a calm, cool atmosphere that makes it a pleasant place to relax. It’s never too crowded, which adds to the comfort. Prices are a little on the higher side for what you get, but overall, it’s a lovely spot with great food and consistent quality.

Truly recommend stopping by and trying their desserts! I had the rocher and it was incredible I wish I took a box home. Definitely give this spot a try if you’re nearby.
