Such a great little spot! We had ~25 friends and family there for some pre-wedding drinks and snacks on a Friday night and the Happy team was awesome. Great wines, delicious snacks, and a laid back vibe. 10/10 - thanks guys!
Here’s a hidden gem on King Street that doubles as both a bar and café, and I’m so glad we checked it out after a local stranger highly recommended it. The space is super charming, with plenty of indoor seating, but the real surprise is the outdoor patio - it’s much larger and nicer than you’d expect from the outside. Perfect for soaking up the gorgeous fall weather. The menu has a nice mix of wine, beer, cocktails, and coffee, plus some light snacks to pair with your drinks. It’s the kind of place that works just as well for an afternoon latte as it does for after-work drinks or pre-drinks before heading out. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, making it easy to lose track of time here. We don’t usually venture down this way, but now that we know about it, we’ll definitely be back.
A cute idea designed by people who don’t sit at or visited a cafe! The inside of the shop seems like it was made to not invite people to sit. Flat back benches, with zero comfort offered while absolutely no lighting around the sitting area. We ordered, fortunately were able to sit in the nicer patio space, and waited for our small bites, 20 minutes later the person who welcomed us came back to tell us that none of what we ordered was in stock- this was at around 1 pm on a Sunday. And then it took them another 20 minutes to try to refund us. Would go back if they fix the lighting or actually have what they say they offer!!!

The server smiled, listened, adjusted the music, and didn’t once make me feel like I was bothering them. A strange, refreshing experience—like discovering the bouncer at Bambi’s reads Proust. Vibe Check This is what happens when the kids from the Stones Place era grow up but still want a little chaos with their caffeine. People here are stylish in an unbothered way. There’s a guy on a laptop who’s definitely editing a zine. There’s a couple sipping orange wine like it's holy communion. The vibe is soft-spoken rebellion. The Space Itself Inside: wood slats, mustard stools, wine bottles arranged like they’ve read Kinfolk. Outside: a back patio that feels like you stepped into a tiny Montreal film festival. All light, no ego. You could host a breakup or a book club here, depending on the weather. About the Neighborhood This is King West meets pre-gentrified Parkdale, where Tilt Arcade screams across the street and the memory of The Cadillac Lounge lingers like stale beer in a dive bar hoodie. The ghosts of Not My Dog, Wrongbar, and Stones Place still pace these blocks—waiting for a bartender who no longer works here and a jukebox that no longer plays The Clash. Hits & Misses ✓ Espresso and wine both nailed it ✓ Back patio perfect for quiet plotting ✓ Staff were warm, no Toronto attitude ✓ Space has depth and intention ✗ Not many pastries if you show up late ✗ You might miss the chaos of old Parkdale if you're too nostalgic Final Verdict Happy Coffee & Wine is Parkdale’s clean-shaven older cousin who still has “Miss You” on vinyl. It’s soft but sharp, minimal but warm, and just chaotic enough to keep things interesting. If you’re mourning Stones Place, don’t worry—this spot has good wine, good light, and just enough weird to make you feel at home. Walked into this place with a friend a couple weeks ago. We planned to sit and catch up. Upon walking in we received zero welcome. In fact, the person behind the counter stared at us with zero expression. I immediately knew we would leave. My friend placed their order, and I refused to place one. In French, my friend asked what the problem was. I replied, "J'aime pas le vibe." At that point, the person perked up and was kind enough to let me know they spoke French, to which I replied, "great, then you understand the problem." We won't be coming back, and my friend thought the coffee was subpar.
I’ve been a regular for about a year now. It’s a great place to enjoy a coffee or hang out with friends over drinks. Thanks to the friendly staff, I can always have a comfortable and enjoyable time ☕️?
We found the person working there unapproachable and vaguely condescending, and we left feeling like we were dumb for asking questions about wine. At any other place that sells natural wine (Grape Glass, Midfield, Botl Shop, Grape Crush), the staff are always willing to have a great conversation about the wine where you leave having learned something new and excited about the wine you got. Our experience just didn't feel great. Maybe we'll give it another go and hope for a different outcome, but for now, we'll just sadly sip our natural wine.
