Quite overpriced and underwhelming salads/bowls. The amount of each ingredient is very small, especially for the price. There are much tastier and filling salad options in the area.
I kept saying excuse me to get the staff’s attention but they just didn’t care! They knew I am waiting but still chose not to assist me! And the store wasn’t even busy at all! Terrible service!
We were walking in Yorkville looking for a café, not even planning to eat a meal, but we walked by Mandy’s and couldn’t resist going in. The place is beautiful inside, and seeing everyone enjoying their salads totally pulled us in. We ordered the Lumberjack salad — kind of like a super-loaded Caesar — packed with protein, fresh veggies, and surprisingly filling. Yes, it’s on the higher end price-wise for a salad, but it was worth every dollar. We also grabbed a chocolate chip cookie, and wow — it literally melted in my mouth. So good. Shoutout to the staff as well. The service was friendly, attentive, and added to the whole experience. I loved this place, and I already promised my fiancée I’m taking her back with me next time. Definitely coming back.
$1200 order for a corporate event. Mandy’s not only didn’t make the salads in time, but also didn’t finish the order properly (45 bowls/ salads ordered, only 42 showed up… late) Host on the phone didn’t try to solve the problem, only offered me her managers email (like thats going to take care of the order/consumers without a meal that was payed for) As a retired Chef with 18 years of Industry experience from fine dinning to running large scale/ large order kitchens, you CANT mess up like this and respond so poorly. I empathize with the scale of the order (45 salads) but 6 hours notice is more than enough time to facilitate an order being picked from a salad bar (respectfully.) All things considered, the salads (that arrived on time) were nice, we were hoping to build a relationship with Mandy’s as we have late nights/meetings biweekly with 45-60 people needing something healthy and not heavy on the stomach so late in the evening, but clearly this is to tall of a task for Mandy’s. If you want a single salad to go, sure why not. But find somewhere else for bulk orders. Oh, and when we showed up at the restaurant (because WE wanted our salads that we PAYED for so WE went out of our way to pick up Mandy’s funbaggery) with the receipt proving we were missing 3 orders, we were given 4 cookies… to split between 45 people? I laughed out loud (wasn't even mad at this point, truly flabbergasted) your critical thinking/ customer service skills need a revamp! Again, I’m an ex chef of high volume dinning… I get it. But y’all need to do better, especially in Yorkville. Warmest Regards,
Go to Chop Hop instead. I had Mandy's on recommendation from a few people, and got the seared tuna salad for takeout. I was completely underwhelmed. My idea of a good salad is something that has a good variety of textures, balanced flavour, and is prepared so that bites manageable. This salad ticked none of those boxes. The lettuce leaves were kept whole. There was the smallest sprinkling of red cabbage that it might as well have not been there and was cut too large. A half avocado was plopped on top of the salad without being sliced or cubed which just reads lazy. The green apple added nothing in terms of flavour. The ginger wasabi dressing was a really generic, too sweet, ginger miso style dressing. The dressing came on the side which would have been fine, but the takeout container lid was so loose, I had to transfer everything to another bowl just to dress it. And the whole salad was so small it did not justify the $24 price. I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because the tuna was decent. This place's whole thing is salads, and nothing about my salad seemed thoughtfully prepared. Overhyped, overpriced.
I ordered the matcha latte, chia pudding, and peanut satay salad to eat in. The restaurant was very cute, but small. The price point was high, but normal for Yorkville. Although the salad was filling and flavourful, the matcha latte and chia pudding were not good. The mango in the chia pudding was still green and hard and should not have been used. The matcha latte was of poor quality matcha. I'd definitely come back to try other salads, but not anything else.
Unfortunately I feel this place is more hype than substance. We got take out a couple of weeks ago and when I opened my aloha bowl, it looked nothing like the picture and was also missing the tofu. The rice was cold and hard which made the texture of the bowl kind of unappealing while eating. My husband got the endless summer salad and it was ok. The dressing just wasn’t that impressive. For the price, you can do better somewhere else. But if you really want something “healthy”, then sure, eat here.
