It was my first time having Omakase and I loved it. Had a great time and enjoyed the food immensely. What made the experience a night to remember was our chef, Chef Phil. He was very personable and made the experience a night to remember! I will definitely be coming back
Had an amazing night at MSSM Ossington. The vibe, the food, the music—everything just hit perfectly. But what really made the experience stand out was our server, Phil. Phil was the definition of top-tier hospitality. Super friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely knowledgeable about the menu. He gave great recommendations (all of which slapped), checked in at the right moments, and made sure we felt taken care of the entire night. You can tell he actually cares about the guest experience, which is rare. The cocktails were on point, the dishes were fresh and full of flavour, and the overall atmosphere felt upscale but still comfortable. Perfect spot for a date, a birthday, or just a quality night out. Huge shoutout to Phil for elevating the whole experience. I’ll definitely be back.
What happened? I visited MSSM Ossington two years ago and remember it being an elite, outstanding experience, but it was nothing close to that last week. We tried to stay understanding, but the experience has brought me here. I had allergy notes included in the reservation, but not all were honoured. The omakase was okay, most dishes were surprisingly bland except for one standout piece. My dessert was replaced with a small serving of crushed ice and some kind of leaf juice that wasn’t explained to me, that upset my stomach for the rest of the night. The chef was very quiet and didn’t seem particularly engaged. I could barely hear him explain the dishes or instructions. Add-ons were only mentioned at the end, and the exchange felt a bit abrupt for an “elite” experience. We made the reservation after landing from Japan as we were missing it, but maybe that was the mistake. We were also given the wrong bill that included items we didn’t order. Overall, the vibe and energy felt uptight, unusually awkward, even uncomfortable at times. Very disappointed. Will not be coming back.
I had an amazing omakase experience at MSSM Ossington! Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Our chef, Phil, truly made the night unforgettable — his attention to detail, creativity, and warm personality elevated the whole experience. You can tell he’s passionate about his craft. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an exceptional and intimate omakase experience in Toronto!
This was my second MSSM experience. These photos are from the Ossington location and it did not disappoint. The service was exceptional and the premium sake taster was perfect! We ordered some extra uni because they had received some special version. 10/10 highly recommend. I think when it was all said and done it was over $500 but it was a blast.
Really, really great sushi at this Tokyo-style counter. More modest ingredients than other omakases, but much more modest price; feels like good value. Dishes are still carefully assembled. Delicious rice. Maybe a little more Western palate friendly than other options. Killer chawanmushi. Thanks, guys! Awesome dinner.
Below average experience. Entry level omakase pricing, none of the pieces were memorable and ingredients are all on the cheaper end. Sever was attentive, a bit of a minus and shock when the chef ate a piece of fish in front of us. Got the feeling it was not big enough to serve but too big to just go to waste. Won’t return.
