I’ve walked by this cute-looking place countless times and have always been curious about it! So I searched up the place and saw that it has very high reviews so I was like “no way it’s that good”. My partner and I tried it out for the first time earlier this week and went back today and yes, IT’S THAT GOOD! To start off, the owner of the store (Sidar) is a very very sweet and hospitable person. It was certainly heartwarming to hear about how she started Yonge Potato and worked towards making her dreams come true. We can tell that she takes pride in the food that she makes and sell. Baked Potato Classic - very filling and hearty traditional Turkish street food dish. Generous portion. There were so many toppings that came and pulled this dish together. The flavours were very good! I usually don’t like olives but it somehow tasted very good here! Dubai Chocolate Fruit - strawberry and banana cup with high quality melted Belgium chocolate and pistachio butter with kunafa. Hands-down the best Dubai chocolate cup I’ve ever had in my life. (I had a poor experience at another place but I would come back everyday to eat this). The sauces were silky, creamy and warm. Felt like it was melting in my mouth. The crispy kunafa added a great balance to the flavours and texture without overpowering it. The bananas were sweet and strawberries slightly tarte which makes for a good combo. I was afraid of this dessert being too sweet like my other experience but it was honestly a good “sweet but not too sweet dessert” which suited my Asian palate very well! Definitely a place that my partner and I would visit on a regular basis :) I would strongly recommend to give this place a try!
So happy we found this place! The owner, Sidar, was so kind and welcoming, and happy to explain everything to us because it was our first experience with kumpir - Turkish street food baked potatoes. The space is small and cozy, with cute potato toys and stickers on the walls. For planning visits, the seating is limited, with a couple of tables for two people. I was excited to dive in, so I got the Baked Potato Classic with all the toppings. The base of the potato was delightful - fluffy, perfectly cooked potato with a slightly crisped skin, and the insides of the potato were smashed up and combined with a nice melty, relatively mild cheddar-ish cheese blend (I'm not sure whether it was a cheddar or a special Turkish cheese, but it was a great classic baked potato topping sort of cheese). The toppings were: Russian salad (sort of like a coleslaw with a mayo sauce, but instead of cabbage it's got diced potatoes, carrots and peas), kisir (tomatoey bulgur wheat), tangy red cabbage, pickled mushrooms, corn kernels, black and green olives, sausage (tasted like hot dogs, sliced into small circles and served cold), and hot peppers (slightly kicked up pickled banana peppers). All of that, and then a drizzle of ketchup and mayo on top. It was a mountain! It was such a fun meal - trying all the new flavor combinations, with such a variety of different qualities in texture and taste. Creamy, pickled, salty, rich, sweet, crunchy, spicy. Every bite was different, and they were all wonderful. I also got a bottle of ayran (salty yogurt drink I've had before and totally love) and a bottle of salgam - a purple carrot juice that is salty/sweet/spicy and made right in Toronto. I really enjoyed it. We got a Dubai fruit cup for dessert - sliced strawberries and bananas with milk and white chocolate, pistachio cream, kataifi shreds, and shredded coconut. The fruit was perfectly ripe, and all the flavors were so incredible together! I've never had banana or coconut in a Dubai dessert cup before, and it was so delicious. Sidar made the visit so welcoming and fun, and she was clearly someone who takes a lot of pride in her restaurant, and also finds joy in sharing her country's food with her new city. I wish I lived nearby so I could visit all the time, but I will absolutely be stopping in the next time I'm in Toronto. Thank you, Sidar, for the fantastic meal!
l've been curious about this place and finally had a chance to try. This is a small Turkish fast food restaurant near Finch station. (They have 4 tables. They say everything's Halal) Ngl, I was a bit underestimated their menu before visiting. So it was quite a surprise in a good way how fresh the ingredients are. We ordered burger combo, sandwich, and Dubai chocolate fruit cup. Everything was delicious! I normally don't eat fries, but this one I finished the fries that comes with burger combo...super crispy and fresh (you'll see what I mean when you try it) We shared a classic potato that was a very generous portion.
I had a great experience here! The food was fresh, flavorful, and so satisfying. I tried the kumpir and the köfte sandwich, and both were absolutely delicious. The portions were generous and the prices were fair. The staff was friendly and everything came out quickly. And their waffle is truly the cherry on top — the perfect sweet finish! I keep coming back again and again because it’s just that good. Definitely a place I’d recommend to everyone!
If you’ve ever tried this traditional food, kumpir in Istanbul, you should definitely try this place. The taste is exactly the same with very fresh ingredients. The owner is very kind, lovely, and keeps the place super clean. Definitely recommended!!!
THE BEST Dubai chocolate in Toronto !!!!! Love that tasty chocolate lava… Also need to try the burger and fries combo, the double pan-fried bread with house made beef patty, and their home made fries with crispy outside and tender inside. TRY!
Great new spot for a simple, satisfying meal! The potato was perfectly baked—crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and topped with fresh, flavorful ingredients. The köfte ekmek was hearty and well-seasoned, with a great balance of flavors. Everything tastes fresh, and the prices are very reasonable. It’s the kind of comforting meal that always hits the spot without being too heavy. Definitely worth a try!
