Avoid this company at all cost!!! 1. They send inexperienced people who don't speak English to work on your roof. (They didn't even remove the old shingles!!!!) 2. Your roof will leak, they will come and add corking, which does nothing!!!! 3. You'll call them back when your roof leaks more. Then Hugh will tell you there's nothing he can do because he's in China. 4. Then they'll stop answering your calls altogether. 5. You will have to spend more money to get your roof repair PROPERLY!!!! AVOID THEM AT ALL COST!!!!!! I should have taken them to court, my mistake.
We hired this company to do all the soffits, fascia and eavestroughs/gutters. Short version: multiple leaks and they said it is our roof's fault because the shingles do not overhang by 2 inches so they can't fix it. Fascia is wavy so they "fixed" it by pounding it with screws. Disappointed because we hired them to fix the leak. But there are more leaks now than before just in different spots and our fascia looks is wavier than the neighbour's 50 year old fascia. We hired this company because our gutters were leaking and we took advantage of that to redo the soffits and fascia as well to make sure we would have no issues. Unfortunately, the quality of the work is poor. (see pictures). 1. The big one is that water leaks between the gutters and the soffits in multiple locations (see pictures that show a gap). Their response is that they (a roofing company) can't fix it because the shingles don't overhang by 2 inches. 2. The attention to details was also poor. a. They used a mix of colour matching and non colour matching screws. b. The soffits are not flat/parallel to the ground (perpendicular to the wall) but slightly angled in some locations. (see picture). c. The fascia is wavy. When we asked them to fix it someone showed up and started adding screw after screw after screw. They wouldn't talk to us so we had to tell them to stop. (see picture). Bottom line, our fascia is still wavier than our neighbour's 50 year old fascia. 3. in one of the pictures you will notice how the soffit trim (the track) is poorly put together, the trims don't seamlessly align, there are gaps and there's a few spots that are damaged but they installed it anyways. (see picture) 4. Perhaps unrelated, but the workers "didn't speak English" so when we would try to talk to them they just would mostly just smile and keep working. I would have been as happy as them if the work had been done properly but not when it's an excuse to ignore our concerns. Summary: make sure you verify the work before you give them your money. Realistically, can you verify a roof? So maybe better off looking elsewhere.
I contacted Hugh to fix the water leak from one of my bathroom exhaust fans. Hugh was very responsive and committed to send his team to fix the issue the same day. Chris and two other team members came to my house, conducted an inspection, and fixed the issue in an hour. They said the previous contractor incorrectly installed the exhaust pipes and that they didn't even put a hole to vent the air out of the roof. The vent pipes were just hung in the attic without a roof vent. This was a major issue as it could cause mold and damage to the attic and ceiling. I am glad that Chris showed me before and after photos. I highly recommend Hugh and his team for any roofing services.
there is too many roofing companies in the market, I did my home work, I found the best company is D&S and the cheapest price , I asked them to put their lawn sign for 2 months because I really appreciate the job, they are very professional , they came on time and finish on time , they have enough workers to finish the job with quality and professionalism, I recommend this company and Hugh ( the owner), thanks again.
There was an issue of miscommunication which wasn't resolved. I had asked to keep a one way trap door after it was removed from the roof. The contractor confirmed that he would bag the door after removal and would patch the hole there. He said he did patch the hole, but they also replaced the trap and nailed the shingles down on top of it. There's now a noticeable bulge in the area. There was no offer to remedy the situation after it was pointed out that the request was to keep the trap door AFTER removal. All the contractor kept saying was to not worry and that the roof would be covered under the 10yr labour warranty, but he refused to specifically write on the contract that nailing the shingles over the trap door will not decrease the performance of the shingles in that area. Appearance wise, the rest of the shingles on the roof don't look completely nailed down smoothly either. The crew did arrive on time and finished quickly. The price was also cheap as well. But you get what you pay for. Overall, I'm not entirely satisfied with the job or service, but they had to make it to another job so they weren't interested in addressing my concern. My recommendation if you use this company, is to make sure you are clear with communication with them and be firm when inspecting the work afterwards.
