As a Chicagoan living in Toronto, I approve. There’s slight differences but it works! The best way to order is baptized (dunked) and if you’re a beginner get it dipped with a side of the jus to dip in as you go, because you’ll want to lol. The fries are crispy & salty just like they’re supposed to be, just wish the cheese was more of a stadium nacho cheese because that’s what we typically use in Chicago but nevertheless it’s good! Interested in trying the combo (beef & sausage) will come back to rate that. Keep up the great work Marq’s!
I tried the classic Chicago beef. Never been to Chicago but this is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. The bread is soft and holds well after being dunked. The hot peppers adds an amazing flavor depth and crunch that hits the spot. And the beef is soft tender and soft. I got the au jus on the side and that’s what hit the spot it’s not like any other au jus I’ve ever had. Truly one of a kind that has a great balance of savoury notes. The sandwich was so incredibly delicious I can’t wait to go back to that area and try it again.
Got the 9" Italian beef with au jus (broth), giardiniera (pickled veggies) and sweet peppers. Portions matched the price, which was great. One half of the sandwich the beef was dry, the other half was a little less dry and more palatable than the first. The giardiniera was overpowering the beef. Maybe the mix of flavors aren't for me and someone else would call my experience 5 stars. I might try this again in a few months and see how it goes.
I've been ordering Marq's Chicago Beef on uber eats every other week for the past few months but had the pleasure of visiting them yesterday with my friend visiting toronto. The flavors are just incredible and so are the owners. The sausage beef sandwich is just mind blowing. The jus, giardiniera and sweet peppers add is a must. Defs one of the best sandwiches in Toronto.
If this place had 3 million reviews and still averaged a flat 5.0 stars, I would still be ranting and raving at strangers on the street about how criminally underrated this spot is. Truly masters of their craft. An absolute must.
Ordered on uber eats. Quality of the beef is top notch and the quantity is good value for price. Definitely beats jersey mikes and more authentic taste and flavour
Real Chicago Italian beef sandwich. Just like my Chicago high school (really, the Augustinian brothers at St. Rita H.S. made a great sandwich!) and other locales in Sweet Home Chicago. Basic stuff, but beautiful and authentic. You will crave later. The young lady serving was a joy as well.
