Delicious dinner/sake for my boyfriend’s birthday! Loved the vibes of the place and the hospitality of the chefs. The quality of the fish was incredible. It’s very clear that their menu and combination of flavors was very well thought out. I will definitely be back!! Thanks for a lovely omakase experience.
Been for lunch many times, tried their set menu dinner and ordered their sushi hand roll set. This place always hits the spot ?? The taste and quality is consistently top notch!!
Amazing little restaurant, rotating menu at very fair prices - chefs Jon and Matt are super friendly and make the sushi and omakase experience very approachable and easy for newcomers, while serving delicious and high quality dishes. Definitely recommend stopping by, especially if you are a sushi lover!
Stopped by for a delicious lunch. Friendly staff who are very passionate about their craft. Learned a lot about how they’re on a mission to help source local fish + grow better practices for handling fish in Ontario, we need more spaces like this in Toronto!
Went for the seasonal mushroom kaiseki experience. I'm very used to fish from Japan so I wanted to try something different, and I was very intrigued by the concept of building a menu around local fish in a kaiseki format. Sitting at the counter, it was great to watch the chefs preparing the food right in front of me. We were a small group and I loved how intimate it felt. The menu was short, but cohesive and undoubtedly "fall": different types of mushrooms and fish cooked in a variety of ways, kaiseki style. My favourite dish of the night was the panko fried maitake with renkon (lotus root). It was fried to perfection and the texture of the renkon was so delicate and delicious. The staff was unbelievably warm and friendly and I enjoyed my experience. The only reason I'm not giving a perfect score is down to personal preference - the dishes were quite miso-heavy (evocative of fall, which I understand) and overall a bit too salty for my taste. I do recommend coming here if you want to try a kaiseki experience with a twist.
Bought some blue fin chu toro tuna “sashimi grade” but was severely disappointed. As soon as i thawed the fish and opened the package i was hit with the smell of rotting fish. Upon unwrapping the package i got the visual confirmation that the fish was also rotting and indeed not sashimi grade…
Affinity has been such a welcome addition to the neighborhood! I love getting fresh fish from them, especially getting to watch them carve it up in front of me - that’s how fresh this fish is. Their tasting menu nights are also incredible. The vibe, knowledge & quality of the food is out of this world. Such a great hidden gem!
