Old Truck has the best antiques in all of Toronto! I recently purchased several stunning chandeliers, and I couldn’t be happier with them. Should have read the reviews before coming. Something is really off with the owner. I'm being serious. Checked to make sure they were open, drove all the way there, and just like all the other reviewers here we were quickly escorted out. Very very strange to read the other reviews here that he does this all the time. I wonder of its a front for something else, or if he profiles customers and chooses who to sell to. Maybe there are no actual customers. So odd. What's the point of these games? Someone needs to do some investigating. This isn't just a case of having random hours or being flaky. It's much more calculated.
What are the hours? Can you please post your real hours so people don't waste their time to get to the store when it says you are open only to find the store with the lights on, you sitting it in with doors locked and waving customers off. Is this store open for business? Response to owner: your reply sums up your business!! No time for you either!!
My experience shopping at Old Trunks went really well. I was looking for a trunk to store all my wires for my DJ equipment. I was greeted by a guy I believe is the owner, he was very friendly and helpful. He had a wide selection of trucks to my surprise and I was able to find just what I was looking for. The truck was in excellent condition. I'm very grateful for finding this shop, I highly recommend checking it out.
I decided to check out this store while I was visiting the area because it looked great from the pictures. It was 4pm on a Sunday and I made sure that it would be open since it was a bit of a drive. The hours on google said open until 7pm, so I thought I had lots of time. A woman walked in right before me and he politely answered her questions. Afterward he said to me “Can’t you see I’m bringing things in? Closed.” I hadn’t since he didn’t bring anything in in front of me. I said that I was sorry and thought they were open until 7. “No, closed”. I understand it’s a locally owned business and sometimes stores like this close early, no problem, I just don’t understand the rudeness. Maybe he was having a bad day, and at least he apologized for accidentally hitting my hand with a planter on my way out. Too bad I didn’t get to check the store out because I spotted a few things I was interested in, and a rug I wanted to buy right then. If you do decide to go, call before you do, and don’t do what I did and go on a Sunday later in the day. It actually looks like there is a lot of great stuff here.
Every time I go into the old trunk antiques I find something new that I hadn't seen on my previous trip there. The quality of the antiques are superb, The store is extremely well organized and there is an abundance of different things to look at and purchase. Manuel the owner is extremely knowledgeable about antiques. He is fantastic to deal with. I am very happy with the few purchases I've made and will definitely be back to make a few more.
