Panoply: “Another Door Into Wonderland.” Panoply on Dupont isn't just a shop; it's a cabinet of curiosities—a delightfully unexpected rabbit hole right off the beaten path. I stumbled upon this treasure trove quite by accident after visiting a local art gallery, and honestly, the discovery was an exhibit in itself. If you believe that objects are whispers of history, then prepare to be hushed into awe. The items curated here are not merely antiques; they are vessels of time with stories so rich you can almost hear the echoes of their past owners. I was so utterly impressed by the collection that, given the chance, I’d gladly spend a full day just soaking it all in. The mind behind this wonderland is Bill, the owner and curator, whose passion is palpable and infectious. He’s been collecting these magnificent, often esoteric, treasures for years. Hearing his stories and the fascinating histories behind the items is an experience not to be missed. As Bill aptly puts it, visiting Panoply feels like finding that "another door into wonderland." What makes the collection truly unique is the unexpected depth of the curator’s own artistry. Bill's background includes a significant period in the stained glass business, and seeing some of his own breathtaking works adds another layer of intrigue. It’s impressive to see a collector who is also a masterful creator. Panoply on Dupont is a required stop for anyone who loves history, art, and the beautifully strange. It’s a place that tickles your brain and fills your imagination. Don't walk by it—walk into it.
Took my girlfriend in for a visit as she was in town from Michigan. She absolutely loved it and so did I! The nice man who works there explained that this had been his private collection pre Covid - therefore the store has now given him a place to display it all. There are some “PRICELESS” finds that I’m sure everyone who loves this kind of thing would want to see! Go pay him a visit :)
Panoply on DuPont is an incredible shop, where you will easily find yourself lost among the many wonderful items. Bill is a very passionate and knowledgeable about his antiques and the time period, and a super friendly guide around the shop. Remember to call the phone number on the door to get let inside, as the door is usually locked. Highly recommend this store for anyone who has an interest in history, antiques or old curiosities.
Panoply has become one of my favorite places in Toronto. One call to Bill and he will open the doors to the wierd, wonderful and delightful. A lifetime of collecting becomes available for you to purchase. There really isn't a place like this anywhere else. Do yourself a favour. Drop by and visit Bill and his world of wonders. You won't regret it.
Simply breathtaking! I was blown away by the range, the origins, and the uniqueness of every piece! Ask Bill about his story and Panoply’s, it’s well worth your time!
After meaning to stop by for over a year, my time at Panoply was well worth the wait. Bill's carefully curated world felt as though I stepped into another reality, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Truly, it was the love and knowledge Bill puts into to his collection - that will captivate you and can take you down a unique rabbit hole of wonders.
